Post Office - Hand Stamping mail
If I take a piece of stamped mail to a Crown Post Office and ask them to post it will they date stamp it for me before putting it into the system?

Probably, though if they do so faintly there's a small chance that the stamps will also get a handstamp at the Mail Centre or a pen cancelation from the delivery post(wo)man.

Re: Post Office - Hand Stamping mail
I seem to remember that we were told not to do this, except when:
The item was going via a registered mail service; and / or
The item was part paid with stamps and the remainder with a postage label.
My understanding of this is that Revenue Protection expect items with stamps only for payment in the normal mail to arrive with no marks on them. This is to prevent people trying to re-use stamps.
