Don't see why it would be Wandsworth.
If you search the Royal Mail website, there are several delivery offices closer to Chelsea.

Further update.
My tracking shows no movement.
Royal Mail tell me it is now moving and is for some reason in Medway sorting office ? But only showing on ‘internal systems’ . No idea if this is a thing or not but are hoping it is received by Medway mail centre today ?? And then on the move .
Not sure what to believe at the moment anymore to be honest but feels like a glimmer of hope
Big 24 hours !! Has to be delivered by tomorrow

Makes me think that the barcode sticker has either gotten damaged or fallen off and a new barcode sticker has been put on the item

tracking has updated and my best guess is that it will be delivered tomorrow before 1pm.Your letter should have gone from chelsea to jubilee to Manchester to bury then delivery
Instead it will be chelsea to Medway to Manchester to bury then delivery…you’ll see these updates in your tracking in the morning

And just pleased it turned up today and the contents have some use. Thanks all for your help . Still no idea why it left London 3 days late and went via Medway… packaging and bar code all as they were when it left here .

Suspect as others said upthread after collection and return to your local delivery office it was lobbed in an incorrect sack with regular mail and eventually it got fished out and resumed tracking. Others at RM may offer alternate theories.
Did the Escalations Team ever come back to you.
