Click&Drop problem, option postbox not available?

Post by RobJames »

I am trying to figure out how to order Click&Drop for an international large letter and get to the option "drop in postbox".

The online form shows that this option is available, however, there is no option to specifically tick this, and whatever I do I always only get to step 4 (entering sender's details) where I am forced to select a collection by the postie on the next day or another day.

But I want to drop it in a postbox? Anyone know how to do it online without having to order the collection at the same time?

Any hints appreciated :-)

I had the same sort of issue, I think they have it as the default option because they want to encourage it, it's done in a confusing way (it confused me anyway!) but you should be able to delete the free pickup option when you get to the checkout stage, if you forget to do it before checkout you can still delete the pick up from the confirmation e-mail

Thank you, Nildesperandum!

It is indeed the case that first one has to order the whole thing complete with the unwanted "collection" up to the stage of confirming the order in checkout. Only there at the end is it possible to delete the unwanted collection option again. What a ridiculous way of programming that procedure.
I think they have it as the default option because they want to encourage it,
But what does RM gain if everyone and their dog has every single letter collected by the postie? What's the reasoning behind this encouragement?

I'm not sure that the process driving it would qualify as 'reasoning' but it seems to me that the payoff is that it bypasses (and thereby reduces the need for) post office branches?
And it's a way of squeezing more utility out of every postie...
I can imagine the CEO gnashing his teeth at the thought of the postie walking to the door laden with packages but walking away unburdened, what a waste of personpower, and the CEO is having to pay for that!!!
He need as much money as possible so that he can give it to the shareholders and earn his massive bonus, he wants to be a billionaire like Jeff and have a phallic rocket to feel proud of and a superyacht.
And wouldn't every postie be so proud to know that their labours have contributed to the rocket and the superyacht, imagine the joy they will feel as they prostrate themselves before a golden statue of Simon Thompson
