Current 2023 disruptions

Post by rw2028 »

Hi guys I have a quick question regarding the recent disruptions to international deliveries caused by cyber attacks. Are these disruptions affecting parcels coming into the UK? I have a parcel from the US that has been in transit since the 31st of Jan.

Hi there, for International Signed is there any further updates on the tracking after

when the parcel leaves the UK... I know it won't be tracked after it leaves but its been the same message for a week and I'm wondering if it's stuck. It's bound for Kenya.

Incoming parcels most certainly are delayed for whatever reason - I had a parcel from the US which supposedly left by plane on the 21st Jan, and only turned up this Wednesday the 8th of Feb

I have just ordered something from the USA and indeed they sent me an email stating that there are delays for items coming into the UK. It makes me wonder why RM isn't passing on the same warning to UK residents.

RM are not good with updaes. The cyber attack left thousands of businesses in limbo - we still don't have much info a month later.

I am now in despair, they claim that international services are running again, I gleefully shipped my orders and they are just sitting in gatwick, over a week later, this feels like a cruel joke
what on earth is going on?
what are they hiding?
why are they doing this?
'Delivery of International items may take slightly longer than usual'
slightly?
more like 10 x longer than usual, that is surely outside the bounds of 'slightly'
wtf

They do say import services are running with "minor delays"...I suppose it all rotates around what Royal Mail deem "minor". See comment re "slightly" in previous post.

Does anybody have any idea of the current delays? I know the official statement is "international Parcels may incur some delays" but my parcel has been sitting in PSC Milton Keynes for 12 days. It was a Valentines gift for my fiance in Kenya, and it seems really unfair of RM to state "slight delays" when this is the result. When i sent the package on 1st February, the official release was that "international export parcels are now running again", that seems really inapprorpiate and misleading to suggest that, almost as if RM were deliberately misleading customers so that they do not lose business. If i had even suspected a delay this long I would have paid more for quicker shipping with another company.
No replies from RM customer services, no updates on tracking, no help from anywhere and really vague updates from RM. It's really unacceptable, even in recovery from a cyber attack which I appreciate can be extremely disruptive.

*** Does anybody know of how long their packages took, anybody on the inside have any inkling of the volume of backlog, Does anybody know if the tracking message may just not be updated properly, and the parcel may be further along? Its a really personal gift, and I just want to know roughly where it is and that its not lost. I don't think I will ever use Royal Mail after this unless something changes my mind. Its been awful. ***

From what I can gather ( from reading around online) when it comes to items shipped after the hack, a few of them are getting to the destination country fairly quickly but the vast majority are taking 2 weeks or more to leave the UK.
