They’ll be talking about starburst again soon. Be installing seats in the rear for 2 posties plus the 3 on the front. Like a prison van with mail.

Same up here as welltwoloops wrote: ↑08 Feb 2023, 16:03This happens everyday in our office, they pick a walk that’s been failing & building up in the frame & send the normal crew out with a spare in the three seater, the driver does packets, the other two get loaded up with mail & trollies, they still sometimes bring back loops, the Lino goes crackers![]()

Re: 3 in a van 3k delivery points
It’s hard enough for two in a van to get along without punching each other, so three in a van, who see each other every day of every week of every year…. won’t survive that long.

So do all the partnerships in your office get along like a house on fire and no one is not speaking to anyone?yellowbelly wrote: ↑08 Feb 2023, 18:24I'm not for this at all but refuse collectors seem to manage three in a vehicle.
We have plenty that do get along but there are a good few that simply don’t.
Then when there are 3, the element of 2 against 1 will make an entrance. Just great. Not.

Funny you should bring that up that. In his book, Roy Mayall described starbursting as like the bin lorries but in reverse.yellowbelly wrote: ↑08 Feb 2023, 18:24I'm not for this at all but refuse collectors seem to manage three in a vehicle.
Saw a few walks in December get the 3 in a van treatement - the driver scoots around doing packets while two walkers do the loops as the planners intended. Didn't achieve much. Just go the whole hog and pay someone to drive a big van to drop posties off with letters and small packets, so the driver can then concentrate on businesses and oversized.
The machine stops.

Haha, you mean "what happens in the van, stays in the van"arsenalbob wrote: ↑08 Feb 2023, 20:22We had 3 in the back of a van once but I won’t go into that one![]()

It's inefficient to have a driver going off delivering parcels to houses that you are going to pass later on. The driver will be going back and forth.
On top of this, not that many parcels are large. Most fit in bags with the mail. When in a van share you can drop a passenger off at a house to deliver a parcel whilst you go and park up, maybe deliver another large parcel to another house or empty a postbox and then meet at the park and loop spot.
Quite often it's not even the driver that delivers the large parcels. It doesn't work that way.

Re: 3 in a van 3k delivery points
This is my argument. Surely a postie pairing delivering parcels and letters together is the most time and cost efficient method of delivery?norris9 wrote: ↑09 Feb 2023, 07:21Doesn't make any sense...Mr Rush wrote: ↑08 Feb 2023, 20:27Saw a few walks in December get the 3 in a van treatement - the driver scoots around doing packets while two walkers do the loops as the planners intended. If we were delivering gazillions of parcels I could see their argument but we’re not.
