letter sent to correct address but wrong postcode: any hope?

Post by goat »

hello!

i should have recieved a letter from a friend last week,

the first line of the address was correct, ie '20 Church Road'

but the first letter of the second part of the post code was wrong,

ie - SE15 3QY instead of SE15 5QY

I have checked the postcode, and it is a real postcode about 2 miles down the road, but the first line is completely different, ie 120 Brick Lane

would the letter have been delivered to the nearest option, ie 120 Brick Lane, or would it have been sent back to the post office, or would it have just become a 'dead' letter.

its pretty important to me, but i'm expecting i'll never see it again.

anyone got any advice? im really hoping it will be waiting for me at my local sorting office, but im not getting my hopes up! i am based in london.

thank you!

Did you put your address on the rear of the letter!. But all is still not lost for it maybe just waiting for someone who knows for some staff are on hols or sick or another duty!.

The letter should have reached you anyway, presumably it wasn't just addressed 20 Church Road followed by the postcode surely there was a town deignated.

ie - SE15 3QY instead of SE15 5QY

The 1st part of the post code SE15 will get it to the SE15 office.
The 2nd part which you think may be wrong will not matter as long as there is a 20 church rd in SE15
You say the address is right apart from the 2nd bit, then you should recieve the letter no probs.

Why would it be endorsed if the only problem was 1 incorrect number on the postcode :hmmmm . The letter is either lost in the system or it has been mis-delivered because it should have been delivered by now :so there
