Confusing addresses and PAF

Post by outlawboater »

Hi all,

I have an issue with mis-addressing of mail, and mis-processing of address related data.

Within the same postcode there are about 12 addresses which are very similar. Eg

5, High Street, any town, AB1 2CD
5, Small Flats, High Street, any town, AB1 2CD

Too often senders select the wrong address from drop downs, and sorting of drop down menus is inconsistent.

In other cases, Organisations with the correct address, Mia process data presumably sending data to a third party to fulfil, eg 5, AB1 2CD and its pot luck who gets what mail. This has included the mortgage provider!

Large websites eg Yopla, and 192.com have merged data sets and have shown the occupants Co-habitating or mixed up property price data.

RM say correctly addressed mail is being delivered so nothing to do with them, and we’ve not yet had blue light services turn up at the wrong address.

It seems like the PAF hasn’t been created correctly eg Flat 9, Small flats ….

How could I better present the issue to RM to get a proper assessment / consideration of the issue?

PAF isn't the only game in town. Several different organisations have these databases and sell them on, and they don't always have the same data. At my old address for instance, in some databases it had a house number then a separate flat with a letter, in others it was the house number and letter run together with no "flat" to separate them, and in at least one it was "top floor flat".

With regards the order that properties are presented in lists, isn't that at least in part down to the software that is presenting it to you?

Back to Royal Mail specifically, this page allows you to check what is in their database and has details of how to submit corrections:
