international parcel rejected by machine

Post by howanyi »

Hi all, I have got a parcel coming from Hong Kong. (RC939241982HK)
The last update with the tracking number i got from the sender stated that the last scan was on 28 Nov when it lef has left our International Processing Centre.
i havent got any more update so far through the tracking page.
I did visit the the royal mail center in person and they told me the parcel was rejected by machine on the 30 Nov.
It is supposed to be going to Preston.
I was wondering if there is any way i can locate the parcel still at this point?
i understand that it would have been quite a while ago but i have been waiting the whole time and didnt know where else to look for answer.
i wonder if i can go to the sorting center and request them to search for the parcel for me? I do have a picture of the parcel when it was sent.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

The only chance of you finding a rejected parcel is to fill in a claim form called a P58 available from any Post Office. But I recommend contacting Royal Mail customer services direct. Say you wish to report a missing parcel they should then get a description of the parcel and its contents and enter it into their database.

Royal Mail Rejected parcels are usually sent to a secure warehouse in Northern Ireland which is the only place that they are legally allowed to investigate parcels to try and find out who the sender or recipient is. They check the database as well. They have literally thousands of square feet of shelves and it's in a secure area not accessible to the public, so no visiting it won't help.

However, if the parcel was rejected because it was a banned or restricted product then Customs will normally return it to the originating country. Tracking may not be available in these circumstances.
