The only way that it'd work is if the packets were sorted into sacks. Large will just be sorted down to office level, if they arrived at the inward MC sorted to walk level, they'll just get condensed down into mixed yorks, iirc a 600 can hold a maximum of 9 yorks (might be 12). like the large, if the if the small arrived at the inward MC already sorted to walk level in sleeves, the sleeves will be condensed. Whatever way you look at it unless it comes through in sacks, the DOs will still have to sort itJb1969 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2023, 23:31Pre sorted, seriously.ThomasSimon wrote: ↑14 Jan 2023, 20:27We have been told when the super hub in Crick is operational that our over size will arrive pre sorted into Yorkes in the correct duties either for the new parcel duties or current duties cutting out the need for manual sorting in our delivery office.
Our re-sign is complete with new later start times and we go live before end of March.
11 rounds lost with more parcel duties added to existing ones and all the lost rounds delivery points shared out across the office and added to all our frames.
Just how many extra Yorks would that require the 600 drivers to deliver!

Re: Super hubs
Doesn't matter for the postie,i'll still go out with 100's of small packets a day, will have no impact on my delivery as i dont take large packets now because my delivery is so big already.

Re: Super hubs
They were meant to be cross docked in yorks at the mail centres then broken down into walks at the Delivery office hubs .SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 08:02The only way that it'd work is if the packets were sorted into sacks. Re: Super hubs
AFAIK that's been abandoned as I believe that it all comes in to be sorted, with some yorks just need 1 scan for the whole york but still need sorting. We don't seem to get any primary or secondary sort anymorezipmeister wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 10:12They were meant to be cross docked in yorks at the mail centres then broken down into walks at the Delivery office hubs .SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 08:02The only way that it'd work is if the packets were sorted into sacks. Re: Super hubs
The whole idea behind SUPER HUBS is that all mail (small and large packets) is collected from a huge area and is then processed down to DO level.
This then arrives at a local Mail Centre to be cross docked for delivery to local DO's or LOCAL HUBS.
Eventually, when to software catches up, the York will be scanned on arrival at local Mail Centres and DO's (so no need for individual receipt and despatch scanning) to provide coverage for the Tracked System which enables the sender and receiver to follow the package.
The savings from this will be huge, hence the reason why they are rolling them out with speed.
It will never be walk sorted for time and logistical reasons.

Re: Super hubs
A 600 which is a 740 can take between 15 and 21 yorks so could easily accommodate depending on how many runs has into dely office at the moment there will be no need for all the different selections eg large tracked etc as will all go into one sleeve just hope the sorting is up to scratch because if anything like sequence after revision be a lot of missorts

All RM are going to do is only accept Small Parcels.
Medium Parcels are going to Parcelforce
Think out the box RM are.
Are we?

Re: Super hubs
If parcelforce take all the medium and large parcels does that mean royal mail become a letters company again or will they become a small parcel company?! It needs to happen if they continue to cut back hours and extend walks in offices. The large parcels are gradually going on to walks in my office and all it's doing is making it impossible to do do all the mail.

Re: Super hubs
As from last Monday the 8 duties that were taking over sized packets in our office ceased and duties are taking them. The duty holders of the parcel duties well kicked off as now they are just floats / spares the Com called this “ constructive lapsing “
It’s added 1 plus hours onto deliveries so that means more being brought back …

Re: Super hubs
ParcelForce owner driver equals...
- Buy the van (£1000s)
- Self-employed (tax/ self-accessment etc.)
- Van insurance, maintanance, running costs, etc.
- £1 ish per packet per successful delivery (customer being out isn't paid). £1 could be bartered down during contract signing.
- Have to explain and demo for your plans for being unavailable due to:
-- (a) vehicle failure
-- (b) sickness
-- (c) holidays
...basically you need a buddy.
Still... it seems almost twice the price of Evri!
