Hi, I am awaiting a parcel to arrive from Belgium which has had its last tracking update late on Sunday night (1st January) which was "This item is now leaving the originating country. More information will be available when it arrives in the UK."
BPost have told me that it did leave Belgium on the 1st, so I assume it's just awaiting to clear customs and there is a massive delay and backlog from the strikes, Christmas and New Years.
Anyone else having this or can confirm for me? Since am just starting to get a slight bit concerned there has been no updates since it has left overseas.

Yes I would say its in Customs and they do have a back log, some stuff from America sent before the Christmas break is still coming through the system even today.

Customs chose random batches of mail for extra checks, so if your parcel is in one of them chosen batches it'll take longer to clear customs

That is a how long is a piece of string question as it depends on so many factors. During December and November 3 to 4 weeks was not unusual. I think it's probably down from that on average, but it can take forever. The best thing to do is keep an eye on the tracking and then when it starts moving again it should take about 2 to 3 days to be delivered.
