I don't understand what this is supposed to achieve. If we still have finish times, then making walks bigger is pointless - they will just fail even more than they do now.

The USO would basically have to be amended to "letters can be delivered whenevs, don't sweat them" or RM would be facing massive OFCOM fines, constantly.

Would be great if they actually bothered to explain any reasoning behind brain farts.

We have just had 3 more long time full timers hand in their notice this week. We have lost about 12 FT long timers now in the past 6 months. Plenty of jobs in this area so people are going. Even the newbies are not lasting very long.
That’s not good. Being a Postie is not an easy job so RM have to make it attractive or people simply won’t do it, especially in areas with alternative employment.

Do you not think the possibility of Ofcom is behind this dispute acting on a government agenda?
what might this government agenda be?

Most DOs are about to lose their large parcels both from the morning sorting and the delivery.
Given also that we agreed to improvements in efficiency under the Agenda for Growth, how can there not be longer walks or more part time staff?

If we still have finish times ...... why do you think they want "commit to deliver" in any new agreement?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Seriously, how far do these executive knob head's think a person can reasonably walk every day! I know, they don't care. If you need convincing that the only way we have any chance in this job of survival is to strike and strike again... This is it.
You do all realize, even if you are young or even under 45 now, that arthritis, plantar fasciitis and knee and hip replacements are common under the CURRENT work load after you have worked a few years of get up there in years????

Your body's breakdown will be ACCELERATED if we walk 20-30% further everyday.

And then we can add stress after weeks and months off managers berating you for not completing or taking too long.

Don't be carrying, get it on a trolley
It's not even the 'load' - it's walking 100 marathons a year (yes we do!) year after year - human bodies are not designed to do that

Yes I know it was a big "if".

But agenda for growth efficiency was mostly about indoor and pipeline, no?

We can't just....walk and drive faster!

When these revisions are implemented then every failure needs to be reported to OFCOM and the press. They are specifically planning to fail on letter deliveries.
Already are!!!

As I keep saying our huge office has no day-off-cover and has had no cover for 16+ months. They have purposely been failing at our office for almost 2 years. This is all before any revision action is due to take place and I do not know what they are planning at our place.

If they are planning to reduce the service even more at ours then it's going to be even more of a joke than it is now.

It's criminal. Charging the customer for a service that they aren't even running.

Oh not this chestnut again. ‘Get a HCT’ ugh. You’re still walking the miles, pushing or pulling the weight.
NOT a htc its a lightweight trolley ! fook carrying bags i haven't for about 3 years , let the trolley take the strain if you do your back in the fookers will not pay you as trolleys are available to all ! anyone carrying heavy bags now want their heads examining !

The same question could and should be asked of the CWU and Dave Joyce.
The problems of automation and longer delivery spans is nothing new. The CWU fudged the issue by passing the decision down to local level.

I think (and this is nothing new) people need to stop believing the technology attached to their wrist or on their phone.
I doubt people are actually walking anything like what they claim.
Clash, even if we are walking 5/6 miles a day and not 10/12 - the end result, as witnessed with colleagues waiting on hip and knee replacement operations, is that the CURRENT workload (however many miles that is) is detrimental to our long term health. Increasing the amount we currently walk by 20-30% should logically lead to the same injuries and deteriorated health outcomes occurring sooner and/or to more of us.

I’ve edited HTC to now read LWT so hopefully no one else will chip in to again tell me to use a trolley…

Pounding pavements every day takes its toll.

They don't understand and it will backfire on them. I doubt they even considered it. Making people walk ridiculous distances isn't going to work.

They will definitely have to force in the changes they want to sick pay because if they want us walking even further and in the dark - then they have got to expect even more sickness due to injuries.
