It was an almost certainty Simon Thompson would go nuclear in january. He needs everything in place before April with the start of the new financial year and a new five year business plan.

With no agreement in place with the CWU him going nuclear in January will end in disaster .

Yes & with his nuclear executive action set in concrete by April, he can probably expect tens of thousands off with stress within one week

Delivery (D/Os) will have the biggest issues due to 'delivering the final mile'.

My understanding from reading on here is agency don't want to do letter delivery

The same question could and should be asked of the CWU and Dave Joyce.
The problems of automation and longer delivery spans is nothing new. The CWU fudged the issue by passing the decision down to local level.

I think (and this is nothing new) people need to stop believing the technology attached to their wrist or on their phone.
I doubt people are actually walking anything like what they claim.

Or is there any actual sensible planning involved using the PDA info etc.

We haven't been told anything yet at our place I've only heard about it on here.

Taking the weight off isn't the be all and end all of solving the problems of delivery, but it is a very good place to start.

For the umpteenth time: not all walks are suitable for using a LWT. Too many steps.

Also, if I was to use one, my work partner would view it as a green light to load me up like a donkey. He has form.

But aside from all that, you are still pushing or pulling the weight and you legs are still doing the miles.

If a duty isn't suitable for a HCT then it shouldn't have been planned using a HCT.
If a duty isn't suitable for a HCT then it is a van share with lwts.

If the duty isn't suitable for a lwt due to blocks of flats etc then there are H&S restrictions on the amount that can be carried in the blocks depending on the layout of the flats.

We have just had 3 more long time full timers hand in their notice this week. We have lost about 12 FT long timers now in the past 6 months. Plenty of jobs in this area so people are going. Even the newbies are not lasting very long.
