Special Delivery stuck somewhere
On Wednesday 21 December 2022 I had a next day 1pm delivery collected from my house. Checking the tracking it says as at 23 Dec 04:07 am that it is due to leave Greenford MC to go to Paddington DO. Now on 29 Dec, no further update noted on the tracking link. Any thoughts as to when it may reach final destination (in London). Will tracking be updated?

It will get delivered at some point. However, the 23 Dec was a strike day so its possible its stuck in a backlog.
Without a tracking number so we can interpret the tracking its a guess rather than an informed opinion. Keep tracking it http://parcelsapp.com/en rather than the RM one, its better, and also the official RM has had a few problems recently.

I would contact an Official Royal Mail point of contact as soon as possible.
Most of the special deliveries should have been delivered now and we don't have access to an administrative tracking system that can produce more details.
As an afterthought, it isn't a passport or an item going to an Embassy or a large government department, is it? Those 3 sometimes are delivered to spec but don't update for a while.

Which Official Royal Mail point of contact do you suggest for me to contact? I even raised a formal complaint and the response to that was not specific and just a blanket response. Should I go to Paddington DO itself and enquire there? Thanks

Got through to a real person after 30 mins on the Customer Services number. They said if an item posted special delivery on 21-Dec has not been delivered by 3rd Jan it should be assumed lost and she suggested that I raise a claim. So have raised claim for £9.35 refund and £2,500 claim for value of insured item that did not reach its destination.

You can only claim for the postage and the value of the item. If the claim was for the full 2,500, you will need to provide a recipt or invoice at a minimum for this amount.

I don't think a claim for the postage fee paid will be successful as I'm pretty sure the Special Delivery Guarantee was suspended on 21 December.
