And he is encouraging employees not only to breach their contract of employment and subject to the conduct procedure, but also break the law.
That is Maleficence in office and no doubt Royal Mail will hold him accountable with instigating industrial unrest

I don't trust CWU legal department. They not the best in this game. A lot of failures in the past.

Doesn't that mean until a precedent it set nobody has a clue what the outcome might be? Probably the unions told PO Ferries staff also not to be concerned as no precedent had also been set?
The fact the CWU have apparently discussed this with RM suggests they must have some concerns rather than them just dismissing the idea.

There's some right nervous Nellies on here. If RM even dreamt of firing 100,000 plus employees there'd be a nationwide uproar that would see condemnation across the political spectrum and VESA's takeover would be blocked for ever.manchesterpunk wrote: ↑22 Dec 2022, 16:09I’m having a right argument with myself right now about what to do.

You do realise RMT members were on strike for more than 12 weeks BEFORE they reballoted ( reballoting and 12 week issue are two separate issues )
I must have missed them all being sacked

Would you have preferred that the CWU bury their heads in the sand and not discuss it at all?TopperGas wrote: ↑22 Dec 2022, 21:27"we have raised this matter with the Chief Conciliator at Acas who has advised there are no precedents in this area"lobsterhands wrote: ↑22 Dec 2022, 21:06People need to read the post admin has put up, Dave Ward has made a statement regarding the 12 weeks.

Dave Ward has made the position perfectly clear. Whilst in theory people could be dismissed, In practice IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
If a rabid Tory government who seem not to give a flying f*ck about public opinion did not sack it’s own employees in the Post Office after SIX MONTHS of sporadic strike action, there is no way Royal Mail are going to sack 128,000 employees. And make no mistake, that’s what they would have to do.
Each and every strike day where you withdrew your labour, you were in breach of contract. Yes, you were covered by the 12-week legal protections, but you were unequivocally in breach of contract. So what?
I thought when I went to the rally in London that I was walking with an army of men (and women) of conviction and backbone. To see some of the wimpish comments on here like ‘I’ll cross the line, just this once’ is disappointing, to say the least. Man up!!
You think if Royal Mail did go nuclear and sack everyone, you’d be spared? Like I said, we’ve ALL been in breach of contract so going in on the 24th wouldn’t save you in that scenario.
Stand strong and use your brain.

Or for example your employer CHOSE to annul all previously agreed terms and conditions whereby they were NOT OBLIGATED to do so thereby proving they have acted to provoke the dispute further.norris9 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2022, 16:59After 12 weeks, you can be dismissed if you take industrial action and your employer has tried to settle the dispute. For example, your employer may bring in advisers from Acas to help find a solution.
They have brought in Acas, but it seems they are only halfway through with those talks. The talks are going somewhere even if it is just words and Royal Mail can't be trusted until it's written into an agreement.
How could they sack people and say 'we tried to settle via Acas' when the talks are still in progress and both sides are seemingly taking steps forward.

Someone needs to consider changing their username
Non-union employees have the same legal protections during a strike as union members. You cannot be singled-out for dismissal. If you’re sacked and the same treatment is not meted-out to everyone else taking part, it’s blatantly unfair dismissal.

I suspect we will all be getting individual letters warning of our conduct and it will go on our records.
They ain’t sacking anybody but a lot of people will be walking on eggshells.

What do you mean by holding "him accountable"? What specific actions are you certain that RM will take against Dave Ward or are you just spewing more drivel for the sake of it? Name the actions you have "no doubt" that RM will take against DW.

I suspect it’s the amount of CWU Reps suspended on trumped up charges.
