Why is it so difficult for some people to believe that some folks don't see a problem with Royal Mail?

The people that don't want to abide by the employer really should look for a better job rather than those that are ready to soldier on.

The amount lost in backpay + strike days for even a 5% pay rise will take some of us more than 18 months 9% on a basic wage (overtime will dry up in a big way by February - talks of RM even giving more hours to agency B4 staff)

Agreed and that’s where I am really. When I first started the job I would be finished on a Saturday before 9.30 and still paid until half 12. And I wasn’t the quickest. My little bike duty was a doddle.
Van sharing changed things a little but eventually you found ways to still finish early or bag overtime if you wanted.
But these days now have been predicted by the union for years. Even under Rico bak. The union said a storm was coming.
But even with the changes that are proposed it will still be the most suitable job for me. If not I’ll get another that’s more suited.

But the business model is flawed. Changes are coming. If people want to fight then that’s fine. I don’t see my work colleagues as ‘comrades’ or ‘brothers’ and I don’t bother with the two sided propaganda as I’m just happy to go with the flow nowadays. People can call me whatever they want but I don’t give a damn. I just earn for my family and go home to them.

But if it was my business I would want changes. People leaving early is one gripe but the fact is so many people I know have abused these current terms and conditions it’s no wonder the CEO wants to rip them up.

I actually thought that filthybloke will have been a relatively newish postie but talking about bikes and finishing before 12 or 9.30 surprised me.

A lot of people have actually lost touch with reality - some are fighting privatisation (10 years too late), some are moaning about the bosses , the government, the service and many other things including more money...

The dispute has lost all sense of proportion - we are striking at Christmas including 2 days before yet we are no closer to what we want (do t know what very want by the way).

Compulsory redundancy was not even a big issue before all these started and here we are trying to douse that flame...

Why can’t you see that it is you that is in a very very very small minority?

Almost makes you wonder why on earth the company provoked all this aggro in the first place.I mean a well run company, needing a lot of change in a short time, would surely sweeten the staff to take them along on the journey, Not give away all the profits to shareholders, plead poverty, then batter loyal workers with a ridiculous 2% imposed pay rise and rip up all previous agreements.They wanted the fight to get rid of the union.Appalling nonsensical behaviour.

Yip strange ways of working.The jobs f@cked either way.If you go you have to find another job if you stay the job you had will be terrible.And this is just the start.If they get there way all those that stay and those that work strike days be prepared to pick the best franchised duty going and a shiny white van coz that's your future.
