Major delays?
I sent a large letter to USA from Liverpool on the 6th with tracking LO191209496GB , on the 8th I sent a parcel to USA with tracking LO203078945GB and a large letter to Australia with tracking LO191301102GB , the status on all of them is "Accepted at Post Office" and no further updates. I'm aware there are delays due to the strikes but this seems to be too much, any particular issues with mail being sent from Liverpool?

Re: Major delays?
I am afraid I have no update for you, but on this site, we seem to have an uptick in posts about Special Delivery and International items not being scanned. I am wondering if the MCs, who are inundated at the moment, are being told not to scan them but just process them. I hope not, but my suspicion is that's what's happening.

Re: Major delays?
I'm not sure what's going on, I checked other tracking numbers by increasing by one the tracking I have until a number is accepted and it seems most international mail arrives to Langley in 1 to 3 days but everything I sent from Liverpool just went into a black hole, any idea what could be going on?
I'm going to check with the post office later today to see if they have any news but I'm getting really worried now, hope I get an scan soon.

Re: Major delays?
It's a really SH** situation at the moment! The entire postal service seems to be breaking down. I have a serious issue with a special delivery item, yet my international tracked and signed parcel to the USA, posted also on the 10th, has left Langley and is on its way to New York.

Re: Major delays?
Me wonders too if this is a deliberate ploy on the part of RM. This way they can deflect blame onto the sender for not handing it over to RM, instead of it being clear it's stuck in the network.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑13 Dec 2022, 11:31I am afraid I have no update for you, but on this site, we seem to have an uptick in posts about Special Delivery and International items not being scanned. Re: Major delays?
I head from someone who sells a lot on eBay that some post is being delayed by up to ONE MONTH! There is no clear pattern to this - some post gets through and other is delayed. This is utterly shameful. But thing is that normal Christmas rush combined with postal strikes have created the perfect sh**storm.

Re: Major delays?
It is shameful and it is the company who has created the perfect shitstorm as they are hellbent on destroying the postal system as everyone knows it.
This is the result of years of running the company at its limits in a bid to concentrate on parcels and try to forget about letters. They have deliberately not replaced staff who have left and are now refusing overtime in a lot of places, and they've only got by thanks to overtime for many years.
The office I left in August now has 17 vacancies for just over 70 duties, and the only overtime allowed is for working days off.

Yes, you're right. Back in the 1970s and 80s being a postman was a good job for a working class lad who enjoyed getting up early, walking and being outdoors. Nowadays it seems a nightmare from what everyone is telling me, what with posties being forced to work long hours needlessly.

Re: Major delays?
I was there over 9 years, going into private ownership and seeing the end of bike deliveries. Through those years things just went downhill continuously. The workloads and the duties (post rounds) are pretty much designed to be impossible in the time given. The company took on people on part time contracts for full time jobs and expected overtime to be done to complete the work.
The CEO recently stated on BBC Breakfast that RM is no longer a letters business, blatantly ignoring the legal duty that RM have to deliver those letters. Now they have failed to be allowed to not deliver letters on a Saturday, they are threatening to put prices up again. This at a time when they offer collection from home free of charge! And those collections are just included in the postie's daily work, despite them already having too much. Meanwhile, DPD have restricted the number of items they accept into their network because they cannot handle it!
I could go on, I may have got out but I fully support the workforce through the dispute. Yes, businesses suffer but its nothing compared to how things will be in a few years time if RM get their way.
