Are parcels not being collected today ?

I’ve just gone down to the post office and I’ve honestly never seen anything like it. There must have been at least 20-30 of the silver sacks the mail gets placed into for collection all over the aisles and some directly near the entrance. Honestly someone could just walk up and grab one and run off with one of the bags if they wanted to. When I posted my mail today which I was hesitant to do after seeing everything the lady I usually speak to told me there hadn’t been a collection since Tuesday morning and that there should have been 3 collections today and there hadn’t been any ( so all the bags were from Tuesday up to this point so essentially 3 days worth of mail)
Now when I went outside I shouted to her to let her know that a Royal Mail van was outside and he was emptying the nearby postbox and I told him he had his work cut out and pointed inside and he told me they weren’t collecting parcels until Monday and only letters were being collected from postboxes. This was confirmed when he put the letters in the back of what looked like a completely empty van and drove off.
I assume the backlog is that bad that parcels can’t be collected yet until they are cleared ?

Could be, might be a regional or local Royal Mail management decision, nothing the PO can do about it.

Seriously raise it with your MP - whatever view you have on the situation, the more is known about the consequences of the
industrial dispute by the Govt/regulatory authorities/media/public the sooner the situation might get resolved.

Yes this sounds like a local managerial decision, its certainly not something the posties can do without permission. Attention needs to be brought to this.
