Parcel stuck?
Hello - I know that no one can tell me anything about tracking beyond what is available online. My son is in the US and had a package shipped to him from the UK on 12 Nov. On 13 Nov the update says:
Item received by Royal Mail. We have received your item at LANGLEY HWDC, our international processing centre. Your item is being prepared for despatch overseas.
The package is just a pair of jeans, and there has now been no update in over a week.
Is this normal right now? I don't think we have ever had anything take quite so long from the UK.
Many thanks.

Re: Parcel stuck?
You're unlikely to get any tracking updates until it gets through US customs.

Re: Parcel stuck?
But, does it seem normal right now that it could have passed through Langley and not be thru US customs yet, over a week later? It hasn't been this bad in quite some time.

Re: Parcel stuck?
Yes, its normal at the moment, mainly because of the holiday season and there have been delays in Customs (both US and UK) recently so it's all adding up. We have had posts about UK/US and US/UK delays for quite a few months now. The good news is that the vast majority do seem to get through eventually.

Re: Parcel stuck?
Thanks, yes, once during COVID something took about 4 weeks or so to get here. Normally, though, I get a message on the USPS side that says something like "Origin Post Preparing Shipment" and that hasn't come through yet, which makes me think the parcel may not have even made it onto a plane. We do a lot of shipping and receiving and have only had one package lost in 2.5 years, and that was Canada Post's fault. So, still optimistic.

Still just says it is at LANGLEY HWDC. Doesn't say it has left yet.

Re: Parcel stuck?
Hello - I have a similar ish situation, BUT USPS hasn’t even confirmed it’s hit terra firma in the UK yet. It flew out of New York on 12th November and there hasn’t been an update yet. I (of course) can’t get through to an actual human about this, but as it hasn’t even confirmed it’s at Langley yet, is my anxiety justified? Is it lost? Or, do I just have to sit tight and wait for a customs payment request? At what point/how many days do I have to wait to try and chase this up?
The parcel reference is: LH182538278US
Thank you so very much for any guidance you might be able to give - it would be hugely appreciated

Don't think its even reached the UK yet. USPS are one of the few foreign postal companies who scan items before they hand them over to UK CustomsFlummoxedOne wrote: ↑28 Nov 2022, 11:32Hello - I have a similar ish situation, BUT USPS hasn’t even confirmed it’s hit terra firma in the UK yet. Re: Parcel stuck?
Thanks so much @SpacePhoenix
I thought USPS scanned on arrival too, but this is the first thing I’ve had not appear off the other side of a flight.
Is it unheard of for a package to take 16 days to fly from New York? I’m trying not to panic but it seems the tales are a 50/50 split of either: it’s lost, or, it arrived super late. Such a palaver and neither USPS or Royal Mail can help as the former says it’s sent, and the latter says it isn’t here.

Re: Parcel stuck?
Well, my package has made it to the US. It went from exactly what I said on 13 Nov to my local distribution center on 26 Nov. It never said it actually left the UK! Crazy. USPS is definitely having lots of issues with tracking right now, too, and seems to use many different phrases to say the same thing. it's just silly. Anyway, hopefully it will come today. Thanks for the help.

Re: Parcel stuck?
Hello,
Unfortunately, I have similar situation and seeking for advice. My parcel is now stuck at LANGLEY HWDC since 15/11/22 with no further updates.
The parcel was sent to Ukraine on 29/09/22 and but, instead, was directed to the USA by mistake. And after that, coming back to the UK. So..travelling all around somewhere 2 months already. I have put two complaints and contacted customer service, but no clear information. Is it possible to get my parcel back to my sender's home address, or receive the compesation for the lost item, or just wait till it will be eventually delivered to the recpient's address. I am confused and have not had such situation before..Could you please advise what to do in this case?

Thank you in advance! Alona.

Re: Parcel stuck?
I don’t think it is stuck at Langley. “Item leaving the UK” means that is when Royal Mail put it on the plane. The next scan would usually be when it clears Ukrainian customs or when delivery is attempted, depending on the service used. So it could be stuck in Ukrainian customs or held up in their postal service, which I would imagine has all sorts of operational problems right now.
If you are the sender, you can apply for a refund, as it is now 2 months since this was sent.
