Hi, no but it's either a fault or eligibility has been preset & it's not available because of where I work.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
If VR was offered/accepted, what is the likely date RM would want you to finish?
I get it would be just a consensus, financial year end?
Thanks all

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
I left RM after 30 years service, 5 years ago, after a VR exercise, thus I cannot comment, or post on the detail that’s going on, but what I do know VR was the best move ever. I found a new job that I love. To be honest no job is perfect but those of you who are wanting VR or just want to Jack it in I would go for it. I wish I had done it earlier. Don’t get me wrong but when I joined the Post Office in the late 80s it was great and loved it, but probably around the 2009 strikes it went downhill fast for me. Good luck to those of you who decide to go. Many of my ex colleagues who went at the same time have picked up jobs and the majority think it was the best move ever.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Hi All
Inherent in a previous post it was stated that this could cause issues with one's pension.
How would it?
Our office has no one who is up to date regarding this topic and not very knowledgeable either so thanks to all on this site for your help.
( Only interested in how fast they can get out the door)
Going to apply with option of decision until 31 Jan. Be interesting to see WHEN one's actual finish date is
24 hour contract, 5.5 years service (5) ..61.
If one shows interest I wonder if terms are improved, is one committed to the current offer?
Also asking for friends / colleagues... really am!!
Thanks again.

Not sure why they can't reduce the size of the URL?
Might be an idea to bookmark it for future reference.
Thanks for this.
Signed up for it as an insurance policy. Probably won't take it if offered it. If the way this dispute is going just gets worse and worse then at least I have a chance of a way out if offered it.
It also gives me the chance to search elsewhere for jobs for the time being.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
RM pay a decent percentage into our pensions and any decision to leave would need to be factored into your retirement plans.TOWER1 wrote: ↑27 Nov 2022, 07:47Hi All

The over 55's might want to take their pension as part of leaving via VR, that process can take a few months. Those in the RMSPS/RMPP would need to consider early payment reductions too.
I assume actual leaving date would be the Saturday before your office revision goes live?
Personally I doubt whether the 39 weeks + £6k would be improved. If anything it's likely to reduced down to statutory values, particularly if they make people compulsory redundant.

Compulsory redundancy would mean last in, first out, would it not ?RobertT wrote: ↑27 Nov 2022, 09:14RM pay a decent percentage into our pensions and any decision to leave would need to be factored into your retirement plans.TOWER1 wrote: ↑27 Nov 2022, 07:47Hi All

Ultimately the company can decide who goes when it's compulsory, whereas with voluntary it's only those who want it.
If they shut all the CSP's for example, those staff may well be surplus to requirements and they often have a reasonable amount of service behind them.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
The problem with that scenario is that since 1999 and the introduction of OPG role we are all considered to be the same grade so the CSP role is not a stand alone position. If they shut all the CSP's for example, those staff may well be surplus to requirements and they often have a reasonable amount of service behind them.
They would have to be offered redeployment first.
Compulsory redundancy criteria is a legal minefield. Most companies default to last in first out but that's not in keeping with the business plan to reduce terms and conditions which is one of the reasons the business tries where possible to avoid compulsory redundancy, not out of a love for the staff but more because it gets rid of the people they want rid off more effectively.
