Re: Redundancy preference exercise
The Business will almost certainly pull the VR terms on offer which are totally unacceptable BTW - they will use latest strikes to remove £6k incentive/bribe. CWU won’t or shouldn’t sager a deal with these crap terms. Been a senior CWU Rep over 30 years and now in my 43rd year in RM, seen more disputes than most tbh, this is by far the worst , these terms are garbage no-one should sign up for them but I totally understand why folks do - most have had enough BUT under MTSF for example I would get £61950 for VR now I get offered £29233 inc the £6k no way is that acceptable, no incentive to take VR at all and hence why voluntary redundancies will never hit the numbers required on these terms even if we agreed to the numbers WHICH WE DO NOT! We have to be realistic though and focus on the deal for those remaining but completely removing compulsory redundancy for any member but also to try to increase the VR terms from 39 weeks to somewhere from 52 to 78 weeks to make it a reasonable offer given the current times .
Just my opinion folks.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
It's something that I'm hoping the negotiating team put some serious effort into, given the number the company want out in the next few years. Get people the absolutely best deal possible.sam63 wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 20:37The Business will almost certainly pull the VR terms on offer which are totally unacceptable BTW - they will use latest strikes to remove £6k incentive/bribe. Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Probably daft question but want to be sure
Re incentive of £6.
£6 for full time. What are the full time hours?
37?
Say x...for now
I'm on 24 hour contract so I assume I would get (6000 / x) multiplied by 24. Is this correct?
Also, is weekly allowance of £17 for d2d classed as part of your wage for calculating purposes?
Sorry if already confirmed else where
Thanks again for information.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
The year is 2098.
Postmen, women, and robotic postmachines still think the delivery supplement is for d2d.
Your calculations are correct except pretty sure the delivery supplement isn't included.
It will, however, depend on how many years service you have.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
The days of leaving at 63 with 60k plus are over. People are so desperate they'll be offered a crap deal at the very last moment and have to make a hasty and probably wrong decision. I'm lucky in a way where I get my 60 pension within months and can walk into a no stress Monday to Friday job to top up my take home. Feel for people in their 40s. If they offered 39 years and £6000 it's something rather than nothing for me. Not worth crying over what people got years ago. The union are still negotiating so you never know a better redundancy is possible.

Totally agree, I still think the Union will eventually get a better deal on VR terms.Wullie10 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 08:14The days of leaving at 63 with 60k plus are over. I too am 60 early next year and really feel for those with 20 years to go we’ve seen the best of.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Yes 60 perfect age. .. delivery and Mail Centre redundancy probably different situations as mail centre jobs will dissappear all together whist delivery postman will still have a job , all be it crap. Today I decided to register for the People App. Briefly showed preference exercise box, then it vanished!

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Still there for me, after the 'View My P60's' box, I'm viewing on a desktop PC through web browser, don't
know if that makes any difference, seems to be a bit random.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Thanks, just tried it. I had to be quick to tap in the preference exercise box, next page shows error, contact your manager. I'll keep trying.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
I get where your coming from Sam 63 on the v r terms not being enough. The problem is how long have desperate posties like me who have served the company and the public for most of their working lives are going to have to wait for this Potential improved deal to take effect. If it’s 6 months I’ll probably just resign.
