Why would they be made compulsory redundant when there are more than enough willing to go voluntarily

Has anyone considered that they may allow everyone expressing a wish to leave the company to go and replace any excess over 10,000 with people on inferior terms and conditions?

It's a nuclear option because there would be a period of disruption but it would obviously accelerate RMs plan to resize the business.

Has anyone forgotten Andy Furey revealed on Facebook Live that Royal Mail had to disclose that they use 11,200 agency workers across the business on a typical day?
They haven’t said 10,000 JOBS are to go.
They said 10,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) hours must be cut by August 2023.
They could achieve that by ceasing to use agency staff.
But it’s obvious they’d rather pay people to leave the business and just backfill with agency, who can (and do, in my office) get sent home if work levels don’t match the forecast. Or, take on new starters on inferior T&Cs

Those willing to go might be refused if in DO's already understaffed . I have always thought they will first go after people in MC's due to the introduction of modern technology like the PSM

I would love that to be true and get told by boss in a couple of weeks that anyone wanting VR can have it, would be best Xmas ever getting out of this s**t show of a job with some money in pocket when want to leave anyway..

In reality though only 1 or 2 people most offices will get it, the most useless, old, lazy postman will get £25k to do one after years of doing f all....The absolute incompetent are rewarded here at royal mail.

I don’t think it matters if your office is understaffed or not they will look at numbers and if other office’s are not understaffed will look at moving them, let’s face it the way it’s going I think they want as many current staff gone as possible so they can bring in agency and newbie’s on lesser wages and conditions thus saving long term. If they have say 10000 volunteers by end of November they will probably let them all go in January and blame the strike for losing business

When you go to the preference exercise it asks if you are willing to move so regardless how your office is staffed they will be moving people between offices.also your d.o may be understaffed for the way it currently run but with removal of parcels etc you won't need anywhere near the amount of staff you currently have.
