Yes i have checked that's why i voted to strike.
Yeah, and some of the times are extreme. I get it, it's not practical to expect 11:30 as a starting time. With the potential for annualised hours on top of that. People are not in a position to accept that, those are just not acceptable.

There are only a handful of extreme cases though, and those should be mitigated as much as possible.

The vast majority of new start times are between 8 and 9am. Is that something people can't adjust to? The feedback in my office and other's in the area, all with start times between 8-9 was "that's not so bad".
It will be bad when they are delivering mail at 5pm in winter in the rain. If the finish times are unaffected then sure crack on with later starts… Under ST’s regime any overtime will have to be done in the morning before start of shift to clear yesterdays bags and LATs as no one will be wanting to stay out all night.
I guess it comes down to what you're doing now. Our office times won't change much. Rural FT duty finish times have been between 3 and 4.15pm for over 2 yrs now. Most can't complete in time, so they already are working in the dark in winter. It really isn't as big a problem as you first might think. A good head torch on and it's not much different. Kids are home from school so you get rid of more pkts. People moaning because they won't be able to pick their kids up from school? Don't know how they do now, they finish before we do now. If people are moaning about having to start at 8 or 9am FT or 9-10am PT well, we've got used to changes before. You just have to adapt and be 'glass half full' and look at the ways you can turn it to your advantage. Human beings are brilliant at adapting , you just have look for the plus points for you and not dwell on the negatives. Sunday pkts are a breeze and something I enjoy as a change from the usual grind. Annualized hrs would pxxs some people off that get flyers in summer and do overtime in winter but only for financial reasons because they actually work those hrs now, they just get away with it in summer and get paid for it in winter with overtime. How would they feel if they were the ones running a business? These changes aren't such a big deal if you look at the big picture and open your eyes. Don't know how they'd work annual leave around annualized hrs, not seen anything on that yet.
Sick leave proposals will not be good, personally I think it will drive people who are better after 3 days to just take the whole week. However people have got to realize sick leave is not the law, it's a perk and one which has been abused by many, which is probably one reason it's being tightened up. I think sometimes people get on their high horse about changes before they've actually taken a step back and really looked into how it could advantage them.
Just my opinion.
I'm hoping for VR, but as I say, our office wouldn't see much changes to what it's doing now.
I don’t know where to start with this , I’m sure that’s posted by Simon or one of his cronies.
Might have known it would get that reaction. There's no hope for you if you don't have an open mind. We could all die tomorrow, you really have to embrace your life and make the best of any situation and also realise nothing stays the same and nobody owes you a living. You make what you want from your life, you only have one and it's too short. No I'm not a manager, never have been. Never will be. Im too over qualified and kind for that role at royal mail.
I've taken a step back and still don't like it mainly its about the pay and sickness for me,our wage is slowly decreasing towards minimum wage and i can assure you i wont be walking in the s**t weather for those wages.
We've all gotta make that choice. Personally a couple of £/hr less to work in a supermarket (Sundays included) would hold no appeal to me. Just as an example of an alternative. I like being outdoors too much, indoor work would drive me crazy.
The fact you say look for the plus points and see the advantages of this deal is staggering to me , can you point them out to me ?
Later starts. More of a lie in in the morning, or time to do other stuff like take the kids to school rather than pick them up?
More money, there WILL be a pay increase. Before you say anything, NOBODY is getting rises close to inflation that I have heard of.
Working a few Sundays, it's a darn site easier day driving pkts around than walking the streets. Plus you get two days off in the week when most others are at work, great for supermarket shopping.
The duty patterns may even give you 2 days in a row off, better than the 1/6.
Sick pay, yes it's not what we are used to, but if you're not sick it's just the same and as I said, not every company pays full sick pay.
Nobody is going to lose their job unless they want to go. So you will still have a job.
Annualized hrs, if we can still finish on our time (if we can't, that's a big no from me, I'd never vote for that) could work in your advantage in summer, if it's busy, nice weather, work to time and get off home earlier. Like I said the people who will be pissed off are the ones making time in summer and claiming in winter. They have even contrbuted to the idea even coming round.
There are so many negative people on here who just want things the way they always have been plus more money. They are living with blinkers on.
I’m sure your a plant , your the only poster on here trying to sell this deal , give up your kidding nobody.
Guy has been on here 9 years ffs how is he a plant...you would be very surprised how many people would agree with him. never ever seen so many people saying in my mc f--k union going in next week.. and no i will not be one of them rather die tomoro than cross a picket line.
Cheers Aiden.

How do you pick the kids up from school when you finish at 4pm, or even later, especially with annualised hours? Or are we still going to get an early finish? :chuckle
How do you take them to school with a 7am start? You can’t. I can’t, so i can’t have my kids to stay over as much as I’d like. With a 9am start I could. But I’m not happy to work any Sundays unless more Saturdays off were in the deal.

Thompson is currently losing his mind at a mock up poster of him as the Grinch on Workplace, asking how it helps to get a deal.

I'm really not sure how this guy is the CEO, shouldn't being able to take (or more specifically, ignore) a bit of stick be a key requirement for someone in such an important role?

I wanted to join RM many years ago, but the early start times didn't work for me as I had the school run to do.

The irony for myself now I have joined, is that the later start times would have made it possible to join earlier.

As with any times, some work better than others for us as individuals.

My main quibble would be Sunday pay being the same as a weekday, weekends should carry an enhancement as it is unsociable hours.

Ironically I am on collections, so I don't start to 12:30. I just fit my second job around these hours.

My thoughts on Thompson are not print worthy .But if he is allowed to carry on it will ultimately lead to massive job losses and to a pure parcel company with a low wage owner driver culture and you can forget conditions of employment. An I can imagine Dave Ward is as sick as a pig having to deal with an individual who has zero interest in his work force.

So many replies about being reasonable, maybe accepting certain things etc. I think people especially full timers need to open their eyes and really see what is coming. Thompson would like nothing more than to replace us all with in the main people who have come from other less profitable and less stable countries and are prepared to work longer hour's for less money on zero hour contract's or fed through from agencies on a when needed basis. If the union are rolled over and capitulate on this do you really think your jobs safe because you've agreed to certain proposals which are only smoke screen's for the real race to the bottom. Managed out of the business will be child's play with no one to fight your corner.

Crikey don't tell Milly. She will burst a blood vessel.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
