I'm sick and tired of hearing all the whinging cowards, saying that scabby lip Thompson has played the union and all this f'ing nonsense the union is weak and blah blah, I'm proud of the action this union has taken and my small part in it, we are the union, its not some faceless organisation, its us, all of us standing together, it's not dave ward or any other rep, the union is each and every person in it, if " the union ", is weak its cos of all the guvnor asskissers on here saying we're doomed its not working, this was always gonna be a bitter fight and a long one, I support the union that's my colleagues who stand on the picket lines, who stick their heads above the parapet and become reps at all levels and yes the negotiation team trying to get us a decent deal, it's time to put up or shut up, I stand with everyone who doesn't want to shut up and if you're one of the whingers you've got an out now take their crap VR deal and do one, solidarity is power

All this hero talk may make you feel important in your own head but REALITY is a little different. Dave ward & co have pretty much stated they have been led up the garden path & it's clear as day they were duped by that supposed "10 day negotiation period".

Look at the stance the union took at the beginning. It was a no strings pay rise. Now it's so bad they are asking for deals that last 12+ months, asking Royal mail to not give compulsory redundancies. Basically picking up scraps for us.

Not blaming the union. Rm have the power in their hands to push things through. The union are trying their best but people are starting to see it's all just words now. RM will get their plans through, whether it's 2023 or 2024. It will happen & if you think otherwise your deluding yourself.

I second this. It was clear as day to people soon as there was these negotiations, it was a set up and union took the bait whilst RM had time to regroup. While RM was whispering sweet nothings in the CWU"s ear, management sneaking in the back door to f**k us over. Hell, ST couldn't even keep his mouth shut the day after and said they were not going to go higher than what's been agreed. Been months of talks, and for what? Basically the same deal but even worst conditions than the last one! I'm still on strike cuz truth is I just want this place to suffer, however this job is beyond saving now. Don't even blame people for even wanting leaving now, especially the ones who haven't been there for long who get constantly shitted on anyways. Bang your chest as much as you want, and I hope I'm wrong but this company is cooked. Too many people from top to bottom have screwed it over beyond belief over the years for it to be saved.

You cannot talk peace while waging war time is something we can all agree in hindsight we could have done better but it is what it is. It is not a mad tangent the whole dynamic has changed in two years because of the pandemic and government borrowing and the fact we are now facing post brexit headwinds and other factors.
And the fact we are now have a CEO who is hell bent on attacking us all to deflect his £37 billion cost to the nation of test and trace what a smoke screen some on here lap up every word he says!

I'll tell the problem I have with what you said, it's nothing to do with hero talk I have no idea what that is, RM don't have ALL the power, we have one piece of power that's to withdraw our labour on mass like 92k voted for, to stick together, not to do RM and little Thompson work for them by saying we're being lied to or we're being played, you're saying look at stance of the union negotiations team it's changed, and blah blah blah, this fight isn't over yet and this union is prepared to fight on, how do you know what goes on in those negotiations, you don't, of course they're talking two year deals there are two issues being fought over, one the pay rise and two the shape of the job after the changes, if anyone is being played its you mate, let's give up we can't win, yes we can, we win by not giving in, we win with every well supported strike, we lose by believing we've already lost before the fight is over

Well I haven't put the December strike days in my calendar after the debacle of last months cancellations but it now seems with the Union and crazy Thompson so far apart it's looking like these strike dates in December will go ahead. There's going to have to be a big come-down from somewhere.

No explanation on these dates and you have some lucky so-and-so that will have days off on the 15th and then again on the 23rd of December. So, those folks will be happy not to participate!

Just been treated like Plebs by the CWU all the way through except when they wanted our mandate for strike actions.

The more we strike the less and 'pay' deal will be attractive. The Union still have not even verbally and clearly express what the issues are with the deal.

Rumours abound that Dave Ward said he will accept the pay deal if it were backdated to April but when asked about terms, he got Woolley...

This one is a headcracket - folks just having faith in the Union despite all the failings and the reality that we are now a PLC and this is a halfway house between a public service (via USO and OFCOM) a fully private company.

These strikes are just not going to change much - just a waste of money when people are ill-afford to do so.

* Whether people want to hear this or acknowledge it, very few are going back to work, there will be even more doing so next week and much more the week after if nothing is resolved.
** I see more than a third not making it to the 24th of December

Yeah that’s how I see it.
It’s the wrong climate to expect people to lose wages.
The lack of a CWU game plan is also a little disheartening for many.

Short term pain for long term gain. I'll make sure my son is fed properly and looked after but if me and the Mrs have to eat beans for the next month and freeze our backsides off then so be it.
