No idea, whenever we are in dispute people shout strike at christmas, we need to strike in december blah blah, well here we are and he hasn't budged an inch and is ploughing on, this man is a different beast. I only know what I hear people say to me, they are worried, they have bills to pay, I will strike one day a week until hell freezes over, I can afford it and quite like having an extra day off a week, but there are many people much younger that need the overtime to just survive, to lose that and then to be hit with all these days, many will fold and I don't blame them, in their situation I would fold. I'm looking to get out anyway so I have signed up for the VR, I won't get it but if offered it I am looking at about 27k. Yes please and off I go skipping into the sunset.

And Thompson said yesterday that they will walk away from talks if further strikes are announced, which of course, is exactly what the union then does. The previous strikes achieved very little, if anything. The only result of the two weeks of 'intense' negotiations, was a plea to be renationalised. These strikes won't make the company change their position. It must be blindingly clear to everyone now that the changes are coming no matter how much we stamp our feet about it?

So now all the strikes are achieving is dividing us into those who can afford it and would quite like a bit more extra time off. And those who can't, especially after the 'rolling strikes', and now have little or no motivation to lose even more money, as we're obviously not to going to gain anything from it.

If by this charmless post, you mean Thompson has pretty much played the union like a fiddle, then yes.

6 days is not enough in December. Won't make a bit of difference. They aren't even concerned we're striking black friday, so not going to care about the odd day here and there in December. The inability to do rolling strikes killed this dispute.

This is the last month we've got to potentially save our jobs and the company. No point striking 23rd and 24th as it'll be too late then. We're just losing money for no end result.

I'll keep striking but honestly think because this is all or nothing, we should be all out striking the whole of December. I know people say they can't afford it but we all knew it was coming months ago. Could have done overtime months ago to save up funds for this. This realistically is the last 4 weeks we have.

Maybe I'm being unrealistic but really think 2 days a week won't do enough and feel like running out of time.

What power? If we were that strong we would have already received a decent offer, if ST lets next week's strikes go ahead we need to forget anymore daily strikes as they are simply a waste of time and either start an immediate all out strike or just accept what ever offer is now on the table.

Anyway what is the present position on the talks has ST, as he threatened, now walked away or are further talks taking place before next week''s strikes?

Doing tons of overtime to help them clear the office is a bit counter intuitive to then going on strike for a month. If you really wanted to hurt them (and by consequence your pocket), you'd be working to time AND striking when asked.

Look at the stance the union took at the beginning. It was a no strings pay rise. Now it's so bad they are asking for deals that last 12+ months, asking Royal mail to not give compulsory redundancies. Basically picking up scraps for us.

Not blaming the union. Rm have the power in their hands to push things through. The union are trying their best but people are starting to see it's all just words now. RM will get their plans through, whether it's 2023 or 2024. It will happen & if you think otherwise your deluding yourself.
