Xmas Eve the quietest day of the year…. Ffs
The managers won’t be saying that when they try to clear the specials that day.
Xmas eve is a Saturday so likely unless an SD is a Saturday Guaranteed one, they'll just leave it
Very much doubt they'll leave any SD on Xmas eve. Sat guarantee or not.

They announce recommended last posting dates every year for Christmas surely all they will do is move them a couple of days forward if strike action is still planned for 23rd and 24th.

Why have they gone for a Sunday? Bizarre.

It’s not enough anyway, needed to be way more days than 6/7 in the whole of December.
Because Sunday pkts is their main thing. Although I don't see how they make money on it. For example 125miles driven to deliver 13 pkts the other Sunday. They'll just up the agency on that Sunday I guess.
Where I work the agency that drive our 600s are not scabbing so no distribution on that Sunday to over 50 offices and with Xmas Sunday daytime extra runs to every office so in real terms that could mean around 2500 Yorks for Monday morning won’t be there 👍👍👍

Finally the Union have the bollocks to strike at Xmas sadly I sense it will make little difference as we are now in a War with Royal Mail and there is no backing down on either side. The Upper Management seem to be more than willing to let Xmas burn this company down to its foundations and get building again on its burned out shell. The Sunday strike day is a genius touch could probably have added the Sunday afterwards as well as these 2 weekends are when most people get round to posting their Xmas cards and presents the sheer volume of work most years means Hubs and MC's struggle to clear with all the staff present let alone just the casuals and those who exercise their option to work oh and Managers (Thankfully most are workshy lazy incompetents so the amount they clear will be minimal).

I'm a manpower agency driver started 3 weeks ago, with shifts until Christmas.
I'm fully aware no one could give a s**t about my opinion, but I'll give it anyway.
I fully support the strikes, now seeing it from the inside, s**t pay, s**t conditions, on the whole pretty disorganised.
As we've been asked to work strike days, and now there are (10?) strike days, that's about 30% of the shifts I've been given.
If I strike in solidarity, I have no money for December & January, so it's pointless even being there from tomorrow.
If I work the strike days there will be 10 days of animosity, and a complete nightmare trying to clear the backlog for no extra money.
As RM have no loyalty to me , no guarantee of long term prospects, no sick pay, no overtime, it's just not worth the aggravation.
Conclusion, I'm looking for another job as of tomorrow.
Fair play good luck on job front :thumbup
Shame, cos I was starting to enjoy it, and got the impression I'm doing a good job and fitting in well with everyone.
But it's not my battle to fight. I wish everyone good luck.
The job is garbage now but couldn't you apply for a job with rm through a regular job advert or is the only way to get in through the agency?
From what I've seen virtually all RM jobs are now through Manpower or Pertemps.

RM careers are only looking for Parcelforce (self-employed) owner-drivers now.:

That's exactly the same as working for Amazon Logistics, which I did for a while, and tbf Amazon are WAY more organised with modern facilities.
Search postperson and there are plenty that are RM jobs

Inverness (nice place from what I remember) - in the afternoon - in winter! Fancy it anyone?
Hours: 29:00 hours per week between Mon-Sun, working between 13:30 - 19:30 Monday to Friday and 12:30 - 18:30 on the weekends.

SD certainly hasn't been abandoned in my DO, unless you mean only on strike days?

I guarantee, people will cross the line, Part timers will not lose 4 days pay in one week. A lot of full timers won't.
Understand your point but what else was the CWU supposed to do after RM's antics today ... Think this is the unions last throw of the dice!
No idea, whenever we are in dispute people shout strike at christmas, we need to strike in december blah blah, well here we are and he hasn't budged an inch and is ploughing on, this man is a different beast. I only know what I hear people say to me, they are worried, they have bills to pay, I will strike one day a week until hell freezes over, I can afford it and quite like having an extra day off a week, but there are many people much younger that need the overtime to just survive, to lose that and then to be hit with all these days, many will fold and I don't blame them, in their situation I would fold. I'm looking to get out anyway so I have signed up for the VR, I won't get it but if offered it I am looking at about 27k. Yes please and off I go skipping into the sunset.
And Thompson said yesterday that they will walk away from talks if further strikes are announced, which of course, is exactly what the union then does. The previous strikes achieved very little, if anything. The only result of the two weeks of 'intense' negotiations, was a plea to be renationalised. These strikes won't make the company change their position. It must be blindingly clear to everyone now that the changes are coming no matter how much we stamp our feet about it?

So now all the strikes are achieving is dividing us into those who can afford it and would quite like a bit more extra time off. And those who can't, especially after the 'rolling strikes', and now have little or no motivation to lose even more money, as we're obviously not to going to gain anything from it.

What do you mean by this? The rolling strikes were cancelled.

If by this charmless post, you mean Thompson has pretty much played the union like a fiddle, then yes.
