My point was we've known this for months ovcourse the union was going to try for a no strings pay award it's just logic to start off with that, it's not gonna happen now though I just can't believe people are still talking about a no strings pay award.

Delivering barely profitable letters to every address 6 days a week at massive cost which also impacts on the standard of service RM could otherwise offer with the parcel side of the business is an innovative plan is it?

I wonder if you would both have that attitude to my posts if I was coming on here as an ex-employee (who incidentally still has friends and relatives employed in RM) if I was also spouting the union mantra about preserving the ''service'' and I was also objecting to the company evolving in to an efficient and profitable parcels company with all the changes to working practices which that involves?

Any posties who are supporting the self-serving parasitic union in this dispute are doing it for their own personal selfish reasons (possibly served their time and are now close to retirement and just want to retain their own cushy little number) or because they're too thick to think for themselves and have no concerns about the long term viability of the company or the prospects for people who would like to remain working for RM for another 20 or 30 years

The way rm is heading would you want to work there for the next 20/30 years ?? This is just the start of what they want done.it won’t stop till they get everything that the union fought for over the years things that no doubt you benefited from.

Sunday working, but will be ~1 in every 4 weeks.
5 Day mail service Mon-Fri.
Saturday and Sunday become parcel only delivery days.
Due to going down to a 5 day mail service, but working Sundays....we'd still need to 'lose' some staff. (These have probably already left - seeing as we aren't recruiting new staff whilst people are leaving).


Royal Mail get their Sunday working and have less staff to pay. We get our pay rise without a ridiculous amount of change that would have probably led us all to leaving the company sooner rather than later.

the list I made above doesn't even have that much change compared to what RM listed in the 'changes we need'.

and what's just been announced today..... Royal Mail want to scrap Saturday letter deliveries, and what's in my list above that I wrote 2 days ago.....5 Day mail service Mon-Fri. It was inevitable and the most logical thing to do to save money. Royal Mail have been running on a 5 day letter service at our depot for almost 2 years now. We have to take 2 days mail out when we come back from our day off.

Read the Ofcom report from July 2022 and the reasons given by Parliament when Royal Mail was privatised and throw in the EU directive and the Labour government at the time.

The fact is globalisation and privatisation of natural monopolies does not either benefit the general public or the staff and makes money for the likes of the government of Kuwait and investors around the world dressed up as modernisation and improved service
