So latest update is now this…..the COM in charge stood the trial down this morning due to the mess and affect on individuals.
However now a new manager is being brought in to oversee and reinstate the trial
Another deliberate act to annoy the posties.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 11:33Just in a way of an update :

Are they arriving in bags? Sleeves would take up way too much space on the lorries.
Sounds like they picked a runner to run the trialzipmeister wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 16:03…The person who is normally first out the office took an hour longer today and thats with no D2D prep and no large parcels….
How would walk sorted packets work though ?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 12:33Are they arriving in bags? Sleeves would take up way too much space on the lorries.
The introduction of walk sorted packets suggests that RM possibly plan on closing any MC that can't handle having a PSM.
They must have to have a first pass where they get split into batches (probably for most MCs if you added up the total number of walks for all the DOs in the area they cover you'd probably be looking at 1,000+ walks).
They are arriving in red sleeves. I work in the same office as Spinks182 so no need for them to go on a lorry they're wheeled down!SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 12:33

I’ve got to hand it to you SP you’re nothing if not consistent.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 06:54Could be a glitch in the CSS software, the PCs in them have Windows XP as their OS. This is not just on my 2 van share prep duties, everyone in office I've spoken to says the same.
For example it might go 52,54,56,58,60,46,48,50,62 etc. despite that not being how the delivery is routed and it seems random as to when this occurs and it's usually for multiple streets on each delivery. This is a fairly new problem and certainly hasn't always been the case since our revision last November.
So when stuff like that is happening consistently, how is frameless sorting supposed to work?

Every single error brought up you have a semi-logical reason for happening but absolutely no consideration that it DOESNT MATTER HOW OR WHY IT HAPPENS.
It doesn’t matter that it’s the computer, the CSM machine, somebody put stuff in upside down, somebody didn’t generate labels:
what matters is the presentation of mail to delivery offices up and down the entire country is an utter shitshow most days.
It affects everything and no-one in the history of this company has ever seen an employee or manager in processing actually take any sort of responsibility for it.
Christ, nobody in a mail centre even seems to have considered that the 400 trays of flats they’ve spotted getting sent out on a Tuesday morning might warrant firing out an email of warning![]()
I can't see how it can work, you'd be waiting ages for the process to finish and there isn't the room in the lorries, it'd all get chucked back together to get it into the lorries. Someone said in a past thread that any item can only ever be put through a PSM once.Hyrrokkin wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 17:50How would walk sorted packets work though ?
A PSM has limited selections/hoods it can sort into i would assume
1st pass to split/segregate the mail i guess
2nd pass to walk sort into DO selection
There could/would be 100's of walks being covered
Surely this would take ages would it not ?
I might be all wrong i have little idea of MC or PSM
We don't have the time to worry about that these days. The moment we've finished running the last batches on our machines we'll be moved to other work areas. Often we don't get time to even TPM the machines. It sounds like your local MC haven't got any free staff to print the labels some days, the system for printing labels is often very slow
No DO would ever get 400 trays of flats. We don't scan trays/sleeves/yorks going out any more, that stopped over a year ago, we just scan them into the office. The managers won't have time to send out any emails as they're often on the sorting now and the work arrives into the MCs a lot later.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 20:08I can't see how it can work, you'd be waiting ages for the process to finish and there isn't the room in the lorries, it'd all get chucked back together to get it into the lorries. This is how the whole of Royal Mail is run. With absolutely no concept of an internal customer. The fact that every step is incentivised with bonus for targets that only ever end at the door is ridiculous. Who is ever going to care how the s**t job they’ve done affects the next stop? It’s so terribly managed at every level it’s embarrassing. I’ve never met one single manager worth their salt.
It’s always cracked me up how DOs have no idea what’s coming , or more to the point, nobody has ever thought that maybe there should be some communication detailing this in a morning.
The amount of times our office has been caught out at a full trailer arriving late makes me howl. Weve had people out of the door and a wagons turned up.
It’s 2022., has anybody at the MC even heard of a phone? Let’s not even ask about an ASN (advance shipping notice) .
I’ve said this a million times, this company are so far behind in the basics they should be ashamed. That’s what costs the money. Nobody in the operation has a clue how to run a bath. They need to replace every single manager for me .
But yeah, take away our sick pay to save a few quid ,Thompson.
Again, AGAIN you’ve just given a list of what happens and why it happens.BigSacks wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 21:01No DO would ever get 400 trays of flats. Flats and letters (manual) get sent on the same yorks, when a york is full it gets pushed out to distribution, we don't log in any sort of way what's going out to other offices. For the lorries coming into the MC all we get notified of is what time they're due to arrive, where they've come from and how many yorks are onboard (no info about the contents of the yorks)
Yes, this is exactly the position. In my time in RM I worked in DOs, MCs, ect and at every section of office I was at was always, GET THAT CRAP OUT THE DOOR. .even as a distribution driver, the amount of crap I drove between MCs and DOs that was bounced about because no one wanted it, was unbelievable. It was always a case of, f**k it it's their problem.
Basically management want the stuff sorted and out the door as quickly and cheaply as possible. They're always looking for potential savings, budget has been king for a good few years nowNavalron wrote: ↑16 Nov 2022, 00:31Yes, this is exactly the position.
