I really hope that no-one involved is doing anything stupid like starting early for free or skipping breaks just to try and get the work done so RM can then announce what a success it is.zipmeister wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 16:03My Office ,Winton is one of the units and the frames have not been removed(yet) ,we were notified on Weds last week that the "trials" would be taking place from today , HQ is fully up to date with developments and are in communication with the business . The bench merging element is goinging exactly the same as the trials did 3 odd years ago, The person who is normally first out the office took an hour longer today and thats with no D2D prep and no large parcels. There is no news on when the removal of individual duty part would go live. At the moment the trial is over 1 postcode .

Re: Unagreed trial into a frameless office
My office is Home Counties North which has a mail centre and 2 delivery offices in the same building. This morning most of our parcels came to our frames walk sorted having been through the packet machines. There was still some manual sorting of parcels to be done and our large parcels were done separately from this. so now instead of getting our parcels from one source we get them from three....go figure.
As for the frameless sorting trial, so far only 2 postmen have tried it. It doesnt seem to be going very well. It is taking at least an hour longer to sort without a frame and the D2D's havent been done at all for 2 weeks.
Basically, the mech mail is being brought to a bench in pouches walk sorted as before. The manual mail is then sorted into the mech mail by flicking through. The pouches are meant to be individual loops that you just tie up once all the manual is sorted into them. There is a sort of shorthand list of what roads and range of numbers are in each pouch. Parcels are just loaded directly into the van.
As far as i know both postmen that have tried it have stopped as its too much of a pain in the ass!

How would this work on a rural which has no loops?Spinks182 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 16:54My office is Home Counties North which has a mail centre and 2 delivery offices in the same building. My gut feeling is SpacePhoenix will dispatch his information later, possibly even up to 3 hours later.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

MCs don't have anything to do with the writing of the machine sort plans, that gets done centrally somewhere for the whole countryfb1969 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 16:20Route Planner was bang up to date on the duty I used to do, but most days the mech was a disaster. At least three days a week we'd get half of the next walk's mail in the back of each tray - so Duty 1 got a load for Duty 2, Duty 2 was missing the start of theirs but got some of Duty 3's, Duty 3 was missing the start of theirs but got some of Duty 4's etc etc etc And once a fortnight the trays would either be wrongly labelled or wouldn't have a label at all.
But, everyone knows that Mail Centres are always right and every mistake is the fault of either the Delivery Office or the casuals.

We can't even clear walks every day anymore, there's no-one available to do basic duty maintenance. If it doesn't have a 't' label it doesn't matter.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 10:37Some of the problems can be eliminated by the nominated person at a DO making sure that all the entries in Route Planner are always fully up to date, which would mean a greater % of the mail would arrive in the DOs sequenced.
The machine stops.

Doesn't matter who does or doesn't do it. The point is that all the time it happens, the great future of "frameless offices" will never be able to work. Given that the problem comes from the Mail Centre it is good to know that yet again, the staff there don't give a s**t about what goes out of the door as long as it goes out of the door.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 19:31MCs don't have anything to do with the writing of the machine sort plans, that gets done centrally somewhere for the whole countryfb1969 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 16:20Route Planner was bang up to date on the duty I used to do, but most days the mech was a disaster. Re: Unagreed trial into a frameless office
I've been noticing for the past month or 2 in my sequenced mail, it will get so far in to a street then go back have a few houses then jump forward back to where it originally left off. This is not just on my 2 van share prep duties, everyone in office I've spoken to says the same.
For example it might go 52,54,56,58,60,46,48,50,62 etc. despite that not being how the delivery is routed and it seems random as to when this occurs and it's usually for multiple streets on each delivery. This is a fairly new problem and certainly hasn't always been the case since our revision last November.
So when stuff like that is happening consistently, how is frameless sorting supposed to work?

Could be a glitch in the CSS software, the PCs in them have Windows XP as their OS. They tend to crash weekly nowsteve1873 wrote: ↑14 Nov 2022, 20:47I've been noticing for the past month or 2 in my sequenced mail, it will get so far in to a street then go back have a few houses then jump forward back to where it originally left off.
