I could have agreed it by now....

9% pay rise
Sunday working, but will be ~1 in every 4 weeks.
5 Day mail service Mon-Fri.
Saturday and Sunday become parcel only delivery days.
Due to going down to a 5 day mail service, but working Sundays....we'd still need to 'lose' some staff. (These have probably already left - seeing as we aren't recruiting new staff whilst people are leaving).


Royal Mail get their Sunday working and have less staff to pay. We get our pay rise without a ridiculous amount of change that would have probably led us all to leaving the company sooner rather than later.

Think you'll find that'll be a better deal than the CWU agree to, so maybe they should be on the negotiation team. ?

I'd settle for the above...sadly I think we'll still be delivering junk mail post 5pm in the mid winter and they'll still want to have us working less hours in the so called 'quiet season'...banking them and working till we drop dead during silly season.

It's not part of the remit of the CWU to agree to a change in the USO.
They have a voice like us all and can make some noise but they don't have a veto... but yes it does need a (surprisingly small) change of legislation which with the wind behind you could be done in a couple of days.

Thankfully the government is busy with its own shitshow right now.

Every single day that the USO continues in it's current form the more and more money RM are losing and the harder it is for them to transform into an efficient and profitable parcels company.. any postie who wants the USO to remain untouched is either an idiot or just a selfish sod who wants to protect their current personal cushy little number and doesn't care less about he long term viability of the company or the future job prospects of the workforce.

Whenever I hear posties regurgitating the union mantra about ''protecting the service'' that the USO provides it's enough to make me hope that VESA or someone else does take over the company and TUPE them onto lower pay and much reduced T&C's
