For me this all about change.

I take a pay freeze for 5 years as long as there were no change to my working day.

The strings, watered down in some way, WILL be part of the settlement.

What bothered me was the repetition that the deal has to be for everyone in the RM group.

Also posties are doing some large parcels which could be done by Parcelforce and Parcelfore are doing some small parcels which could be done by posties which makes no sense
Most delivery offices are outdated and to small anyway so move to bigger modern premises and combine it all together .

I think that would be Royal Mail's preferred option especially as Simon said Parcelforce is worth £0.
I am not sure the CWU would readily agree.
I can envisage a situation where in order to protect Parcelforce, they will agree concessions in other areas.

I work for Royal Mail. I actually think more stuff should be moved off to Parcelforce and for it to be kept separate. Make it more of a high end identity, like with FedEx.

The trouble is that we're not dealing with rational people. Management could have had this all done back in the summer for a modest pay rise. Instead, they had to lose tens of millions to get to the same point they could've been.

So yeah, even six percent with few strings would be enough to satisfy the work force. But who knows?

What RM wants is minimum wage workforce with no restrictions ie meal reliefs Sunday working and variation of hours in our contracts this will not happen as along as we protest and strike and stand firm!

They have already started people on the inferior terms and conditions ffs.

Why hasn't alternatives to RM's proposals been looked into?

Later starts - Why not split mail and parcels, have dedicated parcel drivers. Mail could be delivered by full and part timers 5 days a week first thing in the morning then the next days mail could be sorted by full timers when they return from delivery ready for the next day keeping the finish time as it is.
