I hope it isn't but this smells and reads like a sell out with the CWU saying it's the best we can get and RM saying it's the best we will offer. Then they all go down the pub.

If there is no better pay offer and CWU recommend a deal based on slight variations to the latest one , then the paid staff of the CWU better start looking for jobs because the CWU WILL CEASE TO EXIST.

Any new CEO will have exactly the same remit - more of the same. Any CEO only has two targets to meet - SATISFY SHAREHOLDERS, and PROFIT.

Given how many CEO's have come and gone in recent years, if you can't see the wood for the trees now, you NEVER will.

If any new starters do actually join the union, then there is no way in hell that you can expect them to vote for, or participate in, industrial action against the next 0% pay offer for existing staff combined with further attacks on their terms and conditions.

If we fail to win this fight now, due to some members bottling it after only a few days of strike action, then we will never be able to fight RM management on any issue at all ever again.

One it would depend on their remit as they have seen they cannot break the union so it is time for negotiation calm down the rhetoric and start talking in an honest fashion. Most agreements are somewhere in the equilibrium not in stellar dictates or impositions of ones hazy dreams after smoking some hash. Where anywhere have I said that I am not on the side of the posties? Where anywhere have I said that the CWU should give in?

I am as against what the current CEO and Co. are up to just as much as you, I have good mates still in, and genuinely feel for the cr@p they are having to deal with every working day.

What I simply said was, that when Thompson has gone - either by falling or being pushed - any new CEO will come in and it will be much of the same again as they try to make a name for themselves.

That's not "gloating", just telling it how it is. Sorry if being realistic offends! Oh, and I've underlined "they" instead of capitals as that also offends
