We have 115 thousand members the vast majority out on strike , I always say that in any strike action you don’t listen to the John Wayne’s who want as much strike action as possible and you don’t listen to the Charles Hawtreys Carry on ) who normal want as little strike action as possible. You have to listen to the core of 115 thousand. That’s is what we always will do.
I definitely fall into the core group, in the respect, I have taken all the strike action to date to give the CWU leadership, as strong a negotiation position as possible. That said, I take no pleasure in going on strike, and am not eager for more. It's my belief that a Union's role is to get as good a deal as possible on behalf of the members, it's worth noting that RM haven't actually budged an inch, I don't believe there is a deal to be had that will now satisfy a majority of members. Remember when the CWU wanted a "no strings" pay deal. Now it's all tied to change, like the company said from the start.
I'm a realist, and it's clear to see that significant concessions on change will have to be made, if the CWU wants to get out of this dispute. I think it's probably time to start engaging with members on which of the "changes" are most palatable.

It is important to understand Royal Mail write to the union detailing breaches to pickets line numbers after every strike , we have a blow by blow account of certain picket lines which has to be responded to.
We did the same with the letter we received asking a number of questions on the notice. We were confident on the vast majority. They even tried to use that area and local reps had told some units the wrong day for the action.
Our position was to not back down and respond to their letter answering all the questions they asked. As a contingency we also named the additional 2 days which had to be served on Friday to be within the legal 14 days notice.
Royal Mails letter came over after we had served notice saying that they potentially taking us to court.
So given that tomorrow is effectively 2 weeks before the 2nd of our now live legal dates, in order to keep the pressure on we should be hearing when the next ones are this week?
After all, in order to do that legally, you have to serve notice in the next few days no?
This is such a big dispute,we need to just concentrate how we move forward. We need to lay down a minimum of 2 days a week during Christmas pressure. December needs to be along the lines of
FRI 9TH and SAT 10TH
TUES 13TH FRI 16TH and SAT 17TH
MON 19TH THURS 22ND FRI 23RD
Id even announce a couple of other dates with no intention of actually doing them, just pull them the day before. Keep em guessing.

What I don't understand is why we waited to the cusp of a recession, till the covid boom was over, and the company had paid out all the profits out to shareholders, before we asked for a no strings pay-deal.
I just remember the union blathering on about us being a 5th emergency service or some nonsense, while I was making the company absolutely loads of money delivering obscene amounts of parcels on the daily.

At that time of year with the expected volumes.This would (in my opinion) be more than enough.I dont think any "all out indefinite" action would get full support, people would not cope.

I think it's much simpler than that, the CWU are in a terrible negotiating position, the dispute is not going well, and there's thousands of different opinions about why that is. They are still the best (only) chance we've got at an agreement though, and people are fully entitled to air their grievances with how things are going, while still supporting the overall cause.
You seem to be moaning about opinions being expressed on a Forum, that's precisely what a an internet forum is supposed to be. Differences of opinions and discussion, if you want an echo-chamber full of zealots, look elsewhere I guess. And there's no need to start with the generic ad hominem attacks on some fictitious person that only exists in your own mind. That's just a waste of your, and everyone else's time.

My gut feeling is that all the rolling strikes will be called off and replaced with weekly 1 day strikes, too risky now with the notifications. Given people's financial situations, I can't see there being much support for more than 1 day a week of strikes
