So by the looks of it yet again CWU's incompetence in calling Industrial Action correctly is going to be used against us and yet again there will be the call for arms after talks. I would be very suprised if these are fully supported then throw in the fact the CWU sneak the news in of the calling off of the strikes on a Sunday tells you all you need to know about how hang dog the Union Officials heads must be hanging right now. Think it's time to Wild cat and f**k Royal mail because I see Martin Walsh doesn't seem to realise that all the changes want to pay and conditions will now be forced through at each workplace through Executive Action whilst they whilst in the wind

1 day strikes are a waste of time and our money it has little impact on Royal Mail operations if we are sticking to 1 day strikes just as well give up now our office gets cleared no problem the day after a strike

I think people are right to question why this has happened and why the PEC went for this strategy of rolling strikes if it hinged on RM NOT challenging aspects of it through legal channels.

What days are we on strike next month?
I had it down as the 4th,10th,16th,25th and 28th then the 12th and 14th was added.
What's it changed to now?

Those criticising the CWU for alleged mistakes do not understand the anti trade union laws. We have to list on functional action 1800 workplaces , and what day of the functional days they are going on strike , which out of the 142 different grades are on the and then list when the 115 thousand members are going on strike.

Royal Mail asked questions points on just a few. We may have been able to argue that our information was correct. However what if a judge said that Royal Mail’s questions needed answering and you have 30 days to come up with the answer via a full hearing but in the meantime I am awarding a temporary injunction stopping all strikes on both ballots . What would your reaction of been then ?

Not worth the risk. We have therefore names the 12th November on Pay and 14th November on Change. We will be agreeing further dates after Tuesday. This does mean that if we want to take Black Friday as a strike day we have to serve notice by the 10th November.

Anyone who does not think the strikes are working should note that Royal Mail wanted to go to ACAS and that they have started using the anti trade union laws to try and prevent strikes.

Let’s be honest there were plenty on here and elsewhere saying the new dates we announced on Friday was to much action. Clearly at that time we could not reveal that there was a potential legal challenge.

We have 115 thousand members the vast majority out on strike , I always say that in any strike action you don’t listen to the John Wayne’s who want as much strike action as possible and you don’t listen to the Charles Hawtreys Carry on ) who normal want as little strike action as possible. You have to listen to the core of 115 thousand. That’s is what we always will do.

Perfectly valid point many people were saying it was suicide announcing more dates. Now gives people some money back. With it coming so late to the announced 2 weeks strikes, hopefully the damage would of been done and Business would of moved elsewhere anyway.

It's a stupid question though.
It only has one obvious answer.
The PEC went for this strategy because they felt they could make it work and it would be effective in helping to achieve the goal of an agreed settlement. That's what we pay them to do.

Some of us didn't think it was the right call but that's just opinion and it's not my call to make. Yesterday everyone couldn't wait for the functional strikes to start, today everyone is Perry Mason.

I trust my union to do the best it can to protect me but I don't expect it to win every battle or get every call right, this isn't a Marvel movie.

What a mess - but not a surprise
CWU have nobody else to blame...they know the rules and the law
RM were always going try some kind of legal challenge - it is up to the CWU to have everything watertight and correct
That is why we pay our subs and why the CWU have expensive lawyers
If that is impossible through rolling strikes...then why call them then - total shambles as usual
So now what

Extensive dates must be called as quickly as legally possible going right through November right up to Christmas Day

You have had months to prepare this information. If you believe that you have done things correctly then you don't back down. You destroy RM's argument in the courts.

Are you saying that the union's lawyers believed that the correct information had been supplied but the PEC members chickened out "just in case"?

That's not how it works.

RM would have asked for an interim injunction until the full case had been heard.

That could have taken anything up to 2 months with the present backlog in the court system, it would hardly have been classed as priority.

We might have destroyed their argument... in January.
