So a pay rise must include back pay and a lump sum because strikes have made us all worse off but better then accepting a poor deal.

Would it be too much to ask people not to hijack a thread on the strikes with geopolitical theories?
A shortage of energy means high inflation.
Start a new thread about the implications of geopolitics on collective bargaining but most people reading this thread would prefer not to have to sift through pages of mostly primary school level simplistic opining lifted straight from some shady website.
It's mostly pseudo intellectual bullshit.

Energy is an input cost for all economic activity and impacts our current dispute.
Is suspect you have no cogent arguments so you resort to denigration.

You dont have to respond! It is also part of the narrative because so e people here think a Labour government will save the Union's or even absurdly think they will renationalise Royal Mail.Pidleypoo wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:12Can you go away with this nonsense please.chrisj wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:09So we now have our British Obama! And nothing changed: very quick to recognise Jerusalem as capital of Israel (Australia just changed their minds)
* Quick to parrot the same line as Boris and Liz - it is all because of Putin's war... blah blah
Why do they call it Putin's war but when the West/NATO invade, it is divine intervention sanctioned by the whole world and according to 'rule-based order) (Order of the Imperial US of A).
So energy prices and food distribution networks and chain is affected by a conflict between just 2 countries. The same Russia that we only take 3% of their stuff and grains from Ukraine that we don't really really need; except for our almost non-existent Agric sector?
Good luck to him. But folks should not expect anything to change - if anything, Austerity 2.0 will be even harder! The Union's can forget it. And by the time of the general election, Labour will not win a landslide because their policies are the same and Tories will have got their acts together and the usual bribery here and there before a general election....
I want to talk about the issues around our strike and not this gibberish.
There is not much going on about the Strikes except the usual scaremongering that you will be working till forever in the dark... Pipe down, each to their own.

There are some cyberbullies here that gets away with it time and time again because the mods are letting things slide. They don't want to sift true other people's stuff but some are ready to quote verbatim the same things that correlates to their own bubble.milly wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:39Which of my posts are "pseudo intellectual bullshit" as you call it?Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:25Fine.milly wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:17Like it or not the reason we want a significant payrise has everything to do with Geopolitics.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:00There are many political and conspiracy theory threads on here.

The CWU themselves are screaming for the government to intervene. The Rail workers and Union - ditto. Everything is politics!

There is paying more and then there is paying more. Or no it’s a lot worse than that it’s 6K.
No Government of any Political persuasion can produce energy out of thin air.
If you are one of these people who wants to beat Putin then get used to paying more for your energy.

RM will just say you can order a torch and alarm on uniform website that’ll keep you safeWoody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:17Also you'll be working in the dark when you've already done 3-4 hours delivery work when you're tired, wet, cold and far more likely to have an accident.
Also most pubs weren't open at 7am and junkies don't tend to rise before lunchtime.
Anyone comparing early morning dark to early evening dark really hasn't thought things through.

It depends how much a Government is willing to subsidise energy costs but then you also have to factor where the subsidies come from and who pays for them.LouBarlow wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:50There is paying more and then there is paying more. Royal Mail want us to all have a 20% pay cut, be on minimum wage, buying our own vans, filling up with our own fuel. Meanwhile Energy costs have tripled. Food is up. Fuel is up. Mortgage rates are up. So we'll have to work 10 hours a day, 7 days a week to survive.
Welcome to Britain.
Sunak needs to put the income tax threshold up before we all starve and freeze. Tax the richest.

The income tax threshold is diabolical, it is stealing wealth from the average worker at an alarming rate and makes working a mugs game.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
