Special Delivery and / or signed for to po boxes

Post by markp84 »

Hello,

I have read conflicting advice on this over the internet.

Do Royal Mail accept delivery to po boxes for special delivery and / or signed for mail?
If so who signs the delivery? is it the mail delivery office or the business owning the po box?

Regards,

Yes for inland mail. Overseas mail is more complicated.

Who signs for it?
The post office staff that delivers to the po box or the po box owner once he picks up the mail or it is deliveted to him at his business?

Thanks

I delivered Signed For items to the house that the PO Box mail was delivered to. They were treated in the same way as any other Signed For item. Can't remember doing any Special Deliveries that way but I only had a handful of PO Box addresses so there may never have been any!

failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

what would happen if the po box was emptied by the business rather than royal m delivering the post to the po box owner?
I think some po boxes are emptied by the owner?

Answer to tweet I sent
Special Delivery items can be sent to a PO Box address. You can find more information on the service here http://ms.spr.ly/6018dp92w
With Collecting Po Boxes a scan showing its waiting should be shown and then its up to the customer to arrange collection. Sometimes it can be a few days.
