From 21 October any new recruits will be coming in on 20% less money.
All parcelforce recruits will be owner drivers.
In addition we have yesterday’s announcement. Until we get the fundamentals right in the talks that there will no owner drivers in Royal Mail , commitment around no compulsory redundancies, that there will be no separate parcel network set up by the board based on worse terms and conditions and scope for negotiations all other the issues then there is no reason why we would even consider suspending a strike.
You don’t surrender the very reason why your in the talks before major concessions.
Remember the Postal Executive have still to announce a strike program from 3 December.
We are up for a deal but an agreement will not be made based on the current proposals of Royal Mail.
However there will have to be agreements around some of the obvious dynamics , coming off planes , the hub automation only having the capacity to sort to circa 350 delivery offices , the ability to deliver reliable on a Sunday. However what will not be agreed is a standard start time of 08:00 , that owner drivers will deliver the larger parcels and compulsory Sunday working.
In every dispute there comes a time when there needs to be a period of calm to finalise an agreement. However at present we are not at that moment and the executive action of the company makes it unlikely at the moment.
Therefore any withdrawal of action without the company making concessions would be the wrong tactic.

The fact is Simon has been sabotaging any attempt at real progress that both sides are attempting to make, while he continues to do that what possible gain could be made by calling off strikes considering he's been engaging in this behaviour long before the first strike was called.
I am not anti-Union! But this particular Union is a relic! And I have been watching the direction of travel since before privatisation and this particular conflict; it has just been badly managed.
I could not care less about Simon provocation or the conspiracy theories; the job of the Union is to protect jobs foremost and get the best for its members in a realistic way not a confrontational way. We are not at war! We are employees wanting a bit more and wanting job security and a good work/life balance.

You cannot get out of the hole you have dug for yourself that easy the facts will be told 2% imposed t/c ripped up working hours changed and now redundancies. This was not announced by the union it was the MANAGEMENT THEY ARE WHO YOU SHOULD BE ASKING QUESTIONS OF!

The reason it all sounds the same is it is the truth I will not bend the narrative so it sounds nice to you or the public or the fat cats in royal mail it is the truth that they ROYAL MAIL caused this strike. We only asked for a pay rise inline with inflation so that is the facts if you don't like the truth go read the Daily Mail or some other adult comic newspaper.

I don't understand which elements of Royal Mail's proposals and Executive Action you think will achieve these things.
Perhaps he likes evenings working and working harder and give up his pension and sick pay must ask ST if he wants anymore as some are rolling over already who are not in the union by the sound of things!
