By definition, if you're shorting the stock, you're not a shareholder.

Why?
Citadel Advisors and Black Rock aren't shareholders?
I don't think holding shares and at the same time shorting shares are mutually exclusive but I will bow to your greater knowledge of the stock market.

The union will be meeting shareholders later this week so at least they will know our side ( the truth ) of the story .

Which shareholders are attending the meeting?
Does it include those that are shorting the stock?
Which ones don't know our side of the story?

If these shareholders are in it for the long term then a dip in the share price isn't actually going to have any effect.

There is a list of what shareholders are attending the meeting on another thread . I don't know to what extent the shareholders know our point of view but I feel it's important to meet them anyway .

Has anybody got a link to that post as I can't trace it, but there are dozens of threads it could be on?

Is DK or his brokers attending, if not, then what's the point of the meeting, as it seems he could well be behind RM's attempts to destroy the CWU?

Unless I'm missing something that's just a list of our biggest shareholders not a list of who's attending, although given the proportion of shares owned by Vesa if they don't attend then it seems a pretty pointless meeting.

Planned Christmas strikes are set to go ahead, after Royal Mail bosses chose to ignore a peace offer from workers’ representatives to get Christmas back on track and tackle the postal backlog.

Today (Tuesday 13th December), the CWU made simple solutions to end the current dispute:

- A back-dated pay deal of 9% over 18 months;

- A long-term job security commitment from Royal Mail CEOs;

- A pause on the ongoing attacks on union representatives and members;

- A period of calm for negotiations on the future direction of the company.

Martin Walsh said 5 things, that only has 4 on it.

But only one of the points above is an actual measurable 'thing' that means something to the foot soldiers ie the actual 9%.
The others are other vague solutions with no detail that can be ignored/ripped up at ST's whim. If those are CWU's solutions
to end the dispute (direct quote from above) they're misreading the room. What about no CR, no commit to deliver,
no annualised hours and all the other 'red lines'?

Exactly this my friend.
Why not just pull away from talks as they already threatened?
They either need a deal or the counter argument is they want us to carry on striking to try and break people and ultimately the Union,so there is no resistance to change ever again.

All I know is the union said all those major shareholders have been invited . Obviously we can't force them to attend but hopefully they will all be there . Apart from hearing from our point of view its also their opportunity to ask the union any questions they have so I would be surprised if they didn't turn up .

Whatl happen is the vast majority of RM staff ie posties the union will wangle a deal given by management. The rest of us ie parcelforce etc will suffer ...its always been the case
