Surely it's also common sense to be respectful of the elderly in a nursing home that could be awaiting important hospital letters. I personally would prioritise a nursing home when I was deciding what I was bringing out. And yes you're correct. In our office we are told to take out what wasn't taken the day before. Seems others would prefer to leave the same places for days on end because they couldn't be arsed driving 5 minutes up a road and 5 minutes back again!!!!kookoo32 wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 12:27Plenty of 'look at me' heroes in this job. Boasting about how they'd let the company burn to the ground. Makes you wonder why they still want to work in the job. What they going to do if an agreement is reached? Switch back on to caring again? Or just carry on not giving a crap? All I can say is I'm glad that's not my van-share partner.Frankie15 wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 05:44Why would you not make sure the nursing home is delivered??? Don't know how it's done in other offices but when I leave stuff in the frame one day that's where I start delivery the next. Surely it's common sense to do the bit you left the day before instead of the same streets over and over again.

If we lose this dispute, I can see owner-driver coming in big time in DOs, possibly with RM aiming to make deliveries 100% owner-driverwalthmstowman wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 17:08That’s if they still have a Job . Re: New RM offer
Sorry hero, I had to be done on time that day to take my wife who has a life threatening medical condition to her hospital appointment. Next time I’ll confirm it with Mr Big Balls here, who knows maybe you’ll be willing to travel over to my DO in your own time and take all the undelivered letters....there’s plenty of emFrankie15 wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 16:58Unbelievable!! Just you worry about your time. Don't worry about eldery people waiting on hospital appointments or birthdays that are a God send when you're in one of those places. Just leave them in the frame for days on end. Fs God forbid if you get old and find yourself in that position one day. If doing the right thing takes you 5 minutes over your time then just worry about yourself.HTPostman wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 10:07Maybe because he doesn’t have time. I’ve been in similar situations where I’ve done all the tracked as instructed by management then I only have time for a handful of addresses.Frankie15 wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 05:44Why would you not make sure the nursing home is delivered??? On one particular day on a rural duty I had just 10 mins left after doing tracked/specials/boxes/collection, I had to make a choice to deliver between:
1. The street that I’m parked next to that will take me 10mins to deliver to, they put in an official complaint they haven’t had anything all week and my boss has said try and deliver there
Or
2. Old Ethel who lost her husband last month, has an NHS letter about her cancer screening which she told me she’s expecting and lives all the way down a farm track that takes 5 minutes to get down and 5 minutes back up.
Or
3. The old people’s home who have birthdays, doctor appointments etc but again it’s a 5 min drive away.
Or
4. One of the local farms that the other reserves can’t find, and I know the farmer is driving around the village looking for me to give me a peace of his mind. He’s got a huge pile of letters with invoices in.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: New RM offer
I don't think this is possible. They struggle to recruit and retain staff as it is. The cost of living is ridiculous. They wouldn't find the numbers they need to do the job. 100,000 owner drivers earning next to nothing.... I can't see it.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 17:24If we lose this dispute, I can see owner-driver coming in big time in DOs, possibly with RM aiming to make deliveries 100% owner-driver
I can see them getting a lot of owner-drivers to deliver parcels. Not sure they'd go down the owner-driver route for letters.
Anyway. We fight on. We aren't bending over. Keep striking. Enjoy the time off. Enjoy the World Cup.

Re: New RM offer
Very true however that day I had a very good reason to be done on time. At the end of the day I’m not responsible for understaffing, making rounds far too long, refusing to train people because ‘there’s no training budget’ resulting in the previous 2 days (which were my days off) those doing the round doing it blind.
As you say, goodwill has gone - it coincidentally disappeared when my legally owed holiday pay disappeared. Nowadays it’s start time, breaks, finish time.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: New RM offer
Alot of people at my MC are planning on crossing tomorrow, been 100% up until now.GRS wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 15:56Just heard from one union rep at an office about 20 miles away saying “98% of staff are going in this week “ it is only him & 1 other staying out.
Now I know some may call this BS but I said on another thread that 25% of my office is also going in tomorrow after being 100% solid up until now. If this is being replicated up and down the country (and there’s no reason to believe it isn’t) then this isn’t going to last much longer. If all people hear is that the CWU have rejected this latest offer and trot out further strikes dates then the amount of people returning to work will gather pace.
Now I may have fallen into the trap of assuming because this is going on locally to me that this is being replicated across the country - it may not and I may be wrong. However, those on here who assume that because their office is 100% out thus everywhere else must be may equally be wrong. Bear that in mind!
Heard all the excuses, mostly the "12 week strike rule" being trotted out as an excuse (even though we have dispelled that myth all week.

Re: New RM offer
The 12 week rule is law, hardly a myth
We would not be having his discussion if the CWU had instigated another ballot

After 12 weeks, you can be dismissed if you take industrial action and your employer has tried to settle the dispute. For example, your employer may bring in advisers from Acas to help find a solution.
