Can’t say I’ve read much of the above & have ignored most of CWU rambles, I’m going all out to help Simon destroy Royal Mail, I’ve switched off, they will now get the minimum effort from me, tracked & two loops per day looks like the future, I can handle that, looked @ nursing home in my frame that’s not been out since last Thursday, there’s 15 odd hospital appointment letters & 7 birthday cards, can’t see them going out tomorrow & after the 2 strike days maybe Saturday? Could be Monday or Tuesday, could be dead before they receive them, used to be bothered, now I do not give a flying f**k, Simon do what you f***ing like it no longer matters, I’m sure I speak for 80 90% of the staff? f**k em, life’s to short.

Why would you not make sure the nursing home is delivered??? Fs, you may not give a f**k but come on, catch yourself on!!

I know we should hold out for the best possible deal but they union are pushing for a 2 year deal. Which means RM will likely push everything through after this current deal is done. 2 years will fly by.

People need to get in their heads around the reality of what this job is. Any Joe blow can push mail through doors. If you want better, then get better skills. Many are gonna get in their feelings but that's just a fact. We ain't doctors or nurses who have grafted to qualify for their roles.

I plan on leaving in about a year & in the meantime learning a skill on the side. People who complain & stay in the same roles are deluded. If you don't like it leave it.

Why is nursing home post not being delivered for nearly a week, doesn't show you in a good light not giving a fk about customers maybe dying before they receive the hospital appointments ffs

And birthday cards not arriving, so not a single driver in the office available able to drop the post off to the Nursing home?

Perhaps the Telegraph article is an "exclusive" (and I can't find any other media outlet reporting this development online doing a quick search). Is it possible one of the Royal Mail/IDS board members have a chum at the Telegraph, to get them to leak this story, which might not even be true, to further muddy the waters or put doubt in postal workers' minds, or has the Telegraph journalist just got the wrong end of the stick, and hooked onto the CWU's counter-proposal that the pay rise should apply over 18 months instead of two years?

This isn't a new offer, it's exactly the same as the offer they made at end of October. The offer was always over 18 months as this year's wasn't being backdated to April this year and the deal would run til April 24 which is funnily enough 18 months away.

The Telegraph has obviously contacted Royal Mail, been given details of the offer put to the union on 31st October and ran with it. Nothing in that article is new information, unless I'm badly mistaken.

Looks identical. It was offered at the end of October. It wad sold as 2 year deal adding up to 9%,but was in fact not backdated, nor was it 9% since we have already had 2% and 2% of it was a bonus scheme. It was 3.5% from when a deal was signed and then 1.5% in April 2023.

When is 9% not 9%?

2% already imposed + 3.5% + 1.5% + 2% unachievable bonus = 9%

Uses doctors and nurses as an example.... yet doctors and nurses have been leaving their jobs in droves due to being unhappy, overworked and underpaid.

'any joe blow can deliver letters'.... well why do Royal Mail struggle to retain and recruit staff?.... can't be that easy or desirable. It's not like we get paid well. Might be ok to live on this wage if you live in Liverpool or South Wales, but try living on a Posties salary in the South East. Costs of homes/renting there is 2x, even 3x more than most of the country, but we don't get paid more.

A great shame that the way Royal Mail and local managers have treat staff over the years has lead to many just not careing anymore, we've been treated like children and made to think we cant think for ourselves, for many the constant badgering from managers wears people down until they think fxxk it, it cant be arst anymore
