Nice if they pay me the lump sums but I certainly won’t be hanging on to the 29th!jahbalon wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 23:33I think the CWU should make every effort to persuade Royal Mail to try and find a way to Fast Track the Lump Sum Payments of £500 + £900 respectively, for our long suffering postal workers and their dependents.
Many of our postal workers have hit hard times since the dispute, having lost eighteen days of wages while on strike, and have bills to be paid, running costs and dependents in need.
Making them wait until September 29th for the Lump Sum Payments seems a far way off, as they need the money now, even if Royal Mail could just Fast Track one of the Lump Sum payments, would make a massive financial difference for them and their families.
All the best for your retirement and don't spend it all on the one go![]()

Re: Pay & Lump Sum Timetable
I was going to ask about this as well. If I am still employed by the company on August 4th but leave before September 29th, do I get the £500+£900 or not?arsenalbob wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 07:20As per usual the wording in the letter is confusing. It says to qualify for ALL payments you must still be employed by the company on 4th August. It then says the exact amount for the £900 lump will be determined by how many people still work for the company on the actual date it’s paid, implying if you leave after 4th August but before 29th September you won’t get it. Poor wording as usual

Re: Pay & Lump Sum Timetable
Should do, as the qualifying date as you've stated is 4/8. See the official CWU LTB 185/23:Beamer wrote: ↑16 Jul 2023, 20:52I was going to ask about this as well. Re: Pay & Lump Sum Timetable
Sounds too good to be true to be honest. I should be leaving in about 4 weeks. I can’t help think the part about being in post on August 4th just means anyone who joins the company after that date won’t be entitled to it.yellowbelly wrote: ↑17 Jul 2023, 17:19Should do, as the qualifying date as you've stated is 4/8. Re: Pay & Lump Sum Timetable
I am not confident that we will ever see these lump sums, however it states that they could be paid into an AVC.
Would that mean you wouldn't pay tax as pension contributions are taken before tax?

Re: Pay & Lump Sum Timetable
I am too worried about the delay. I start doubting if we actually gonna see these payments at all.
I am curious about why since we endorsed this awful deal why we still didn't get the pay rise. This weeks pay didn't include the rise.
I believe this should be back dated to April 2023 and it should include allowances as well as delivery supplement. Am I right? Why does it take so long why on earth these lump sum payments are delayed so much?

It was mentioned in another thread that monthly paid staff have received the back pay so every reason to believe it will turn up for weekly in August.blacov wrote: ↑21 Jul 2023, 14:01I am too worried about the delay. I start doubting if we actually gonna see these payments at all.

Thanks for sharing. Is there a definitive answer as why the lump sum payments are due to be paid at the end of September? Cwu keeps quiet as usual and I could see a lot of speculation on the forum but no real answer from a reliable source.

Money is allegedly locked away in an Escrow account, my guess is that are also using this pot of money for the £500 as well.blacov wrote: ↑21 Jul 2023, 16:15LouBarlow wrote: ↑21 Jul 2023, 15:24It was mentioned in another thread that monthly paid staff have received the back pay so every reason to believe it will turn up for weekly in August.blacov wrote: ↑21 Jul 2023, 14:01I am too worried about the delay.
