Hi
I have received a parcel with no senders details and would like to know who it is from
The parcel was stamped/franked as follows
BR: 101010
2-172831
PRN: 0211-8A92-022A-31E6
Would any of these help identify the location of the sender?
thanks in advance

Doubt it leo - if customer turned up with that info at our DO, none of us would have a clue how to trace (neverleolion855 wrote:local delivery office should be able to trace its journey.
mind having the time or inclination). Apparently there is a list of PO counters that are associated with the
BR number but I've never seen it and I've heard it's content is protected like the info is a state secret
by Royal Mail and the Post Office even if you do have access to it. The customer would be politely informed
that there is no way we could trace the originating PO which the item was sent from.

I doubt the Delivery Office would be allowed to tell you because of the GDPR regs. Also stamped mail isn't tracked through the system anyway and there's no guarantee that where it was posted is anywhere near the location of the sender

The numbers & letters excluding the dashes after the PRN prefix are the relevant data and are known as a 2D barcode. As others have pointed out it probably isn't possible to track something through the system except to say whether it has been delivered or not. With the other type of rectangular barcodes found on Signed For, Tracked, & Special Delivery it is easier or possible to trace items through the mailstream.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

Only Tracked and Special Delivery is trackable throughout from sender to recipient.Celgar wrote:The numbers & letters excluding the dashes after the PRN prefix are the relevant data and are known as a 2D barcode.
