Hello,
I always thought absent recipients are getting a notification card to collect the item at the local Post office branch...
Look what happend:
Shipped as registered mail RM474590875DE.
It is not trackable at Royal mail homepage.
However, I found a tracking solution here: http://www.trackitonline.ru/?tn=RM474590875DE

Any comments?
Best regards,
Eniko

It is showing on Royal Mails details page http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
However, it doesn't give the reason for non-delivery so it could be anything from an address not recognised, refusal by residents to any other reason that means an immediate return to sender. It will be impossible to say why until it returns to you. Lookout for a red sticker that looks like this it should indicate the reason why

@TBT and @fillershop.de the sticker with the reason on will be a pink one. It's pink for items being returned abroad and red for items being returned within the UK.

Never even heard of this pink sticker. If it came from my DO it'd have a red sticker.SpacePhoenix wrote:@TBT and @fillershop.de the sticker with the reason on will be a pink one. It's pink for items being returned abroad and red for items being returned within the UK.

I didn't know about the trackdetails page before and already included it in my "shipment notification" emails to UK.
I'll take a picture of the sticker and post it here once the return arrived.
Thank you for this hint.

Today I've got the shipment back.
The following is ticked on the red sticker: "addressee gone away".
What does it mean in "clear" words? Addressee was not at home? If yes, it is usual Royal mail does not leave a notification for pick up at the local Post Office?

This should mean that the addressee has moved. Usually, the postie will have arrived at the address and been told that they are no longer there.

if you sold the item via ebay, it could be he has updated his paypal address and not his ebay address if he has moved, hence you sent it to his old address with out him realising his error

Bigcols suggestion is the most likely as well, the scan for refusal is timed at 1006 and most posties are out delivering around that time.bigcol wrote:This should mean that the addressee has moved. Usually, the postie will have arrived at the address and been told that they are no longer there.
