Another Heathrow Worldwide Dc question...

Hi,

I'm waiting for a package sent from London on 30/12/2013 and the last tracking info said that's in 'Heathrow Worldwide Dc' and an additional info is the following:
'Do Not Fly - Nrc'.

My question is what does it mean?

The destination country is Hungary, the sender used international signed for.
the tracking number is the following RU240502451GB.

The estimated delivery date should be in this week but the tracking info is not updated during the past ~9 days.

Do not fly - means for some reason they are sending it by surface. Perhaps its a prohibited flight item.

For Hungary it might be handled by GLS. Delivery is about 14 days longer by surface.

Yes - if its "International Signed For" then there may be no more scans until its delivered - even then it might not be scanned, it all depends on who delivers it and if Magyar Posta does, whether they scan or not.

Unfortunately this means that it contains some prohibited items which are not allowed on an aircraft, the item has been sent to the National Returns Centre in belfast where the offending items will be disposed of and anything else returned to sender if there is a return address on the parcel.

Batteries that are classed as dangerous goods by the latest edition of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Technical Instructions are prohibited. That's probably why it's been classed as a no-fly/prohibited item. Do you know what type of battery the phone uses?

It goes to the NRC first where they open and dispose of offending item, then after that as long as there is a return address on it they send it back to the sender,

I would put money on the problem being that the sender has taken the phone and battery apart and they are being sent unconnected in the parcel and that is what the problem is

Is royal mail scanning a package more than one time? I asked the sender and he told that he kept the battery inside the phone. So maybe it's a wrong scanning or sg.

Something has been returned to the sender. IT may be the item, it may just be an empty parcel.

Either way, nothing much you can do at this stage. Either contact the sender to resolve or dispute via PayPal would be my recommendation.

I sent a small package of 31.12.2013 (Bulgaria - London). The package is Heathrow Worldwide Dc from 09.01.2014 21:43. Where it is now and when they are expected to arrive? The tracking number can not be traced to the site of Royal mail.

It should be delivered soon - however not all items from Bulgaria are fully tracked so you may not see an update till its delivered.

We have been advised that anything with a Lithium Ion battery has to be in a box, i.e. if the phone is just in a jiffy bag or a plastic envelope then that's not allowed. And, of course, the battery has to be in the phone, with restrictions on the sending of spare batteries with the device. That might be the problem.
