Royal Mail's trump card in all this will be "if we don't make changes there will be forced redundancies".
There's lean and then there's exposed bone. I reckon, for the workload present, that my office is between a third and a half short of staff. Which is in line with the number of people that left in the two years after the last industrial action.

The problem with what RM want, is that the ODM would actually work in theory if the duties were properly sized
Duties being too big is the savings. Making them achievable completely nullifies the exercise because then you have to put duties in and then you have to staff them. That's how the big trial offices became money sinks.
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?

The latest CWU update today suggests the Government are taking an active role in the talks, you can only hope that means RM will have to make some concessions or they'll be seen as being totally uncooperative by the Government, who still hold the golden share.
Where can this update be found?
CWU on Facebook?
I cant see anything new posted yesterday related to what youve said
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Well I’ve written to both my MP and Liam Byrne and have made the point of stating that whilst mail volumes are down, the explosion of packets since Covid hasn’t been taken into account, specifically how long it takes delivering them when they don’t fit through the letterbox. No one at Royal Mail wants to mention this ( I wonder why :so there ).
I doubt it will make any difference but I’ve tried.

Do yourselves a favour, leave the CWU and get your £15 each month back.
The CWU have absolutely no say in what Royal Mail do and never will have.
Yes because not being part of a Union is the way to go to improve working conditions 👍
:left: They have literally got worse last few years, not improved, while members lost out on £1000+ during strikes for absolutely nothing.
Would we be in a better place now if we had not had a Union over the last few years?

Look at the competition, who have no unions. You really want to go down that road?

Pathetic representation...

They've run out of arguments so are now begging the members to put forward their own case(s) to parliament. What is it the subs actually go toward?!

There needs to be a vote of no confidence in Dave and Martin.

I read through the pre scripted 'letter' that you copy and paste to your MP - it's something you would do for a PPI with a template letter. Do they think the members can't write or something?

The political pandering over industrial leverage is very telling from Dave and Co - it's nothing more than damage limitation

Royal Mail will "open the books" and demonstrate the need for reform or face mass redundancy - this government will not want that or to be seen to be on the side of "barons" after the Dr strike debacle.

Choose from our wide selection of futures:
  • Fall down the stairs
  • Fall out the window

Somebody has to deliver the mail, so mass redundancy won't happen whilst it still needs delivering.

It will if it's only being delivered 2-3x a week...

The argument will be for call rates > volume... What difference is there in posting 2 letters instead of 1.

There isn't much of an argument for the dwindling letter numbers now which is why Dave and Martin have no leverage in negotiations.

I just wish they were honest with us

One minute the CWU agree about having to reform then when it comes to the push they don't want to. One red line for them seems to be keeping people on the exact same duty every day which flies in the face of any real savings being made.
The mail on many duties in ours goes out every single day, mostly singleton duties vans/hcts - RM probably hate that. Then come the shared vans, mail every 2-3 days with parcels every day. Then the duties that people are off on holiday, lucky if you get mail once a week, longer if they are off longer, sick or vacancies.
