Pay day has been a long time coming for monthly paid society, their last payday would have been New Year week,
still not payday until this friday, then the xmas credit card bills will land.
It’s Over till easter.
Those who rely on OT need to urgently find a second job or source of income / get down cash convertors etc
May even need to return the SUV back to the dealer’s.
Massive global economic recession coming.

Re: Parcels through the roof!!
DPR drivers where I work have been out doing walks delivering some of the letters which have been sat in frames for days, covering duties for people who are off etc. Thats because theres no parcels for them. Up until last week there were more parcels than could possibly be delivered, Tracked 24s failing, even 48s not getting out on time. Stuff which was clearly Christmas gifts getting delivered first week of January because there was so many yorks of stuff waiting to go out. Then suddenly it dried up overnight

Crazy busy at ours with parcels today. 165 tracked across a pairing, plus 13 timed special deliveries across the same pairing.

Re: Parcels through the roof!!
Yep today was in complete contrast to the last 10 or so days. Obviously since last Friday people have been getting paid so it’s straight online for whatever they need. Forget all that doom & gloom above about parcels through the floor until October. When online shopping first become a thing it was for luxuries & bespoke items whereas nowadays it is used for every day living items that people can’t be arsed to go to the shops for, can’t get easily in a shop or in some cases can’t manage to carry. Online shopping is here to stay - the genie is out of the bottle & regardless of the comments above it ain’t going away hence why RM are throwing everything at the parcel side of the business. A few lighter days between Christmas & the 1st pay cheque of the year doesn’t mean the online boom is over!!!

Re: Parcels through the roof!!
I was speaking to a customer earlier this month who was lamenting the death of the high street. This was not a pensioner - he was late 30s I'd guess. He said he hates ordering stuff online (could have fooled me) as he'd prefer to go to a shop to have the item in hand that day* and be able to return it in person if it proves to be ill-suited or ill-fitting, versus the rigmarole of having the item picked up again. Well now the town centre is a ghost town centre. Local businesses have been replaced with an oligarchy of a handful of giant virtual retailers.
"The convenience you demanded is now mandatory".
*That was not a cry for Later Acceptance
The machine stops.
