Post by Ayooya »

My package hasnt moved on tracking in almost 2 weeks now, its usps - royal mail and i have never experienced delays like this in my life, I know you all keep saying theres a backlog at customs but is this actually true? Because other people seem to be experiencing no waiting times at all while my package drops of the face of the earth

Yes, it is actually true.

I'll explain it again.

Normally MOST items will go through customs with no problems or delays, However, Customs have the authority, and sometimes obligation, to carry deeper checks on both individual items or whole batches of mail. If they select your item, or the batch of mail its in, it will be delayed and Royal Mail has no control over this - That's when things are normal.

However, with Royal Mail and Customs dealing with Covid, an increase in parcels, an increase in the absence levels od staff and Brexit the delays caused by checks are further exacerbated.

So do you think its in one of those random bstches of mail they check or could it just be in the backlog of items that haven’t gone through customs yet

As it hasn't been scanned by Royal Mail, I would say its been selected by USPS.

If you use the search facility (top right) you'll see this is a regular thing for items from the USA. search.php?keywords=usps

By selected do you mean USPS selected it for a deeper check or customs did? Because i thought USPS weren’t part of the customs process

Really? Wow! That's rare, and you've been very fortunate. Even in the Before Times, customs delays were not uncommon.

It is a bit odd that USPS didn't scan it when handing it over to customs though.
