Special Delivery Still in Transit 3 Days later to a PO Box Address?

Post by mshaw »

Hello All,

I sent a letter via Special Delivery to HM Land Registry last Friday and was due to be delivered by 1pm this Monday. However, it has been showing that it is in transit since Monday 1st Feb since 1.50am in Bristol.

I have called up Customer Service who have informed me I can go ahead and claim back the postage cost. He also mentioned that sometimes with PO Box addresses it's not scanned straight away until it is collected (not sure how that works)?

My question is, does anyone know if this is the case with PO Box Addresses or has experience this delay?

It had my original marriage certificate in there and would be gutted if they have misplaced my letter - plus it was urgent documentation needed in order to sell my property.

Customer Service advised me that if the status doesn't change by the 9th Feb, that I can make a claim for the contents. Again, my concern is time constraint and whether I should sit tight and wait or resend my documents.

I'm also aware HM Land Registry have a major back log of enquiries to get through!

Any thoughts would be appreciated. My Tracking number is: NY294765592GB

Thanks
M Shaw

The land registry will be a large government department so they will probably use Royal Mails routing service - that usually has a Po Box address attached to it (but not all PO Boxes do).

So my feeling is that it has arrived okay and is now heading to the correct department within the Land Registry, although with Covid and remote working it may take some time to get to a person who will deal with it physically. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus ... r-services

- Yes its quite regular for this to occur with large businesses and government departments.
