What happens with parcels arriving at Langley from EU in next few days?

Post by ironmonkey »

So there must be thousands of parcels and packets that are arriving from EU at Langley over the next 3 days that are already in transit with no customs declaration.

And surly there will be thousands that will not be processed before Friday 1st Jan - what happens to all these parcels from eu counties without a cn22/23 attached to them?

Are they treating these batches of arrivials as if they were being processed during the transition period or going to inspect and slap everyone with a duty and vat bill?

Interesting question...I'd like to think significant thought has been given to this but I'd be sceptical..

And if there are as we are led to believe backlogs at customs what happens to items that enter the clearance queue before 11pm Thursday but are not actually cleared until afterwards?

And are RM geared up operationally for the extra admin the need to clear all these previously EU parcels will bring?

Yea, well i have a parcel that was sent from an EU country tracked that it left originating country on 24th December.

Still no update on tracking to say it has arrived at Langley (which is what happens with all other parcels from same supplier). No doubt there is a huge backlog and with closing of the channel tunnel a week back, COVID and xmas it must be mayhem.

So yea I am interested what is going to happen to my parcel and no doubt 10s if not 100s of 1000s of parcels that are going to be arriving now and likely not get process by 11pm tomorrow (31st December).

Its funny, because there is no information and clearly no one knows the answer for sure.
