USPS Priority mail and Parcelforce

Post by NumbNuttz »

Recently was sent 2 parcels from the USA.

One was sent using USPS first class international small package mail. This one departed a transfer airport in LHR and the next day was updated, passed through customs etc, and delivered a few days later by RM

2nd parcel was sent USPS international Priority mail. This one supposedly departed a transfer airport in LHR on the 14th, which is an automatic update after the plane which package was meant to be on arrives. No update since. Pointless contacting Parcelforce as they just say they haven't received it, and USPS will say its left the country & contact parcelforce. Parcel force deliver the USPS Priority mail.

Seems that when you use USPS Priority mail, which can cost double that of the first class international option, it will be passed to PARCELFORCE to deliver, not RM, and looking at other forums it seems after departing plane at LHR, it can be a week or 2 before it progresses any further. its as if Parcelforce are holding items a while before processing. Surely if we send priority which costs a lot more, it should be processed quicker?

this seems to be a regular occurence when sending priority. Any i have sent by first class international postage that always gets passed to RM, they get marked as departing transfer airport at LHR, and a day later, or 2 max, it in in the hands of RM.

Anyone else had this issue where Parcelforce take weeks processing items, as if they hold it and delay initial scan to make their processing times seen faster

They aren’t holding it as you say, that is a criminal offence. Between USPS and PFW it has to pass through UK customs, who can take several weeks to process mail at the moment if items are selected for extra checks. See all the threads on this forum where people have had the same issue, mainly with items that use RM at this end.

I post regularly from the US, Few boxes a month. Mainly post USPS first class international package which royal mail deals with last mile delivery. Everyone that has departed a transfer airport in LHR has moved on to customs and then RM within 2 working days. However every parcel I have shipped using USPS express delivery, which costs a lot more and gets passed on to PARCELFORCE, seem to always depart a transfer airport at LHR and then no other update for 1-2 weeks. Seems like sacks of mail destined for either RM or Parcelforce are possibly treated differently
