Yorkshire distribution centre - delays?

Post by Bobo29 »

Hi all

Two weeks ago (Saturday 11th) I ordered something from a national shop chain and requested an express delivery option. It’s being delivered to a family member who lives in North Lincolnshire.

On Monday 13th at about 5.30am I had an email from Royal Mail which advised that they have received my parcel, and it should be delivered today. I clicked at about 10am onto the the link for tracking and it advised that it was at Yorkshire Distribution Centre and still said the same - that it would be delivered today. The Royal Mail link says the parcel has been dispatched as “Tracked 48.”

The parcel last week didn’t arrive at all so on Saturday I called Royal Mail and he told me that there was a delay, and as it was a weekend he couldn’t tell me when it would come, but reassured me that it was not lost and it would update on the next working day with the status. He also gave me a complaint reference number to take back to the retailer.

Was just wondering if anyone works here or has any idea what’s going on? I’ve had a number of parcels sent to my home address (I live in London) and none have been subject to any delay. Is there just a problem at this local centre? Not sure what to do other than call the retailer and ask them for a refund or to try and dispatch the item again.
